The main reason for this new type of format was the COVID19 rules implemented by each institution to keep athletes and their families safe from being infected by the virus. We were able to watch games that fell on opposite days and here is what we took from these games during that whole time.
(30-3) Camarillo 79, (22-10) Chaminade 73
Gabriela Jaquez Gabriela Jaquez 6'0" | SF Camarillo HS | 2022 State CA in this game had 43 points, (17/20) from the freethrow line, 14 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block in the game. This was another monumental game for her and a complete domination in a final game for the CIFSSGDI Championships. She is headed to UCLA on a full ride scholarship and she is every bit of what was advertised about her. This kid is gonna be special and it is nothing anyone can say bad about her game, she has staked her claim as a baller.
Emily Lim in this game had 12 points on a struggling night from the field, she still hit (2/4) three pointers in this game, due to her being a great sniper from outside, but Chaminade made it tough for her to score and her opportunity were few. She played tough and hung in there, we love her tenacity on the floor and her willingness to help her team win games, but it was the Gabby show and everyone knew it. Emily will be a big contributor for the scorpions next season when Gabby leaves, we might even expect her to be the team leader and that punch for scoring for her team next season.
(20-8) Viewpoint 49, (23-6) Long Beach Poly 37
Nala Williams Nala Williams 5'7" | PG LB Poly HS | 2022 State CA had 20 points in this game on (8/21) shooting from the field, 18 rebounds and 3 steals, giving her a double-double in this game and do it so well in many ways on the floor. She was the high scorer for a usual powerhouse in Long Beach Poly. She led her team well and did her best to hang in the game and stay focused to try and pull out the win versus their opponent.
Kayla Keshmeshian Kayla Keshmeshian 5'5" | PG Viewpoint | 2022 CA also had 20 points in this win for her team, what many do not know if you have not seen them play, Viewpoint only has (6) girls on the roster and they are making it to Championship games, that is a testament to the talent on the team. Kayla is a great athlete and she showed why she is for her team by putting them on her back and taking capturing the win in this game over a stacked Long Beach Poly squad. She will be very exciting to watch at the next level for sure.
