Lakeland was filled with talented players and talented teams last week. Here is a look at the Seniors that participated in the FHSAA state tournament that are signed and headed to play collegiately next year.
Ta’Niya Latson Ta’Niya Latson 5'8" | CG American Heritage | 2022 State #47 Nation FL (American Heritage) – FLORIDA STATE
Latson was spectacular all season. Transferring in from Georgia for her Senior season, Latson led American Heritage back to Lakeland and leading them to repeat as state champions while picking up Gatorade Player of the Year in Florida. The 5’10 guard is headed to Florida State next season and has a chance to break the Seminoles roster from day 1 as a Freshman.
Jada Green Jada Green 6'0" | PF St. Thomas Aquinas | 2022 State FL (St. Thomas Aquinas) – RICHMOND
Green is a long, athletic 6’1 forward who is headed to Richmond next season. She is versatile and runs the floor hard, moving well for her size. She is very active on both ends of the floor in the paint, on the boards, as a shot blocker and rim runner. In Lakeland she went for 14 points and 9 rebounds in St. Thomas Aquinas semi-final win over Nease and then followed that up with 6 points and 5 rebounds in the championship game.
Enjulina Gonzalez Enjulina Gonzalez 5'9" | CG Miami Christian | 2022 State FL (Miami Christian) – MERCER
Enjulina is one of the most well rounded, skilled offensive players in Florida. At 5’9 she has a long, slender build that makes her an effective two-way player. A quick glance at her stat line in 2 games in Lakeland show how she impacts the game in a variety of ways and on both ends. She shot 61% from the field on 11/18, 12 of 17 from free throw line getting to the line more than 8 times per game while averaging 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 4.5 steals. Mercer is getting a 2-way guard who can help them space the floor, put points on the board, and knock down open shots.
Tonie Morgan Tonie Morgan 5'9" | PG FSUHS | 2022 State #18 Nation FL (Florida State University HS) – GEORGIA TECH
Morgan only got to play one game in Lakeland as her squad fell to Westminster Academy in the semis, but Morgan did everything she could to throw the team on her shoulders and lead them to the championship game. The Georgia Tech signee dropped 26 points, knocking down two 3-pointers, 8/12 from free throw line, while grabbing 6 rebounds, dropping 5 assists, and snatching 4 steals. Her efficient floor game and high-level offensive skill set is what made her one of the country’s most highly coveted point guards and expect her to get court time early for Georgia Tech and be an all-conference player in the ACC.
Audia Young Audia Young 5'8" | CG Florida State | 2022 State FL (Florida State University HS) – Auburn
Young is an Auburn signee who struggled in Lakeland going just 3/16 from the field for 9 points in Florida State University 69-52 loss to Westminster Academy. It was a bit of an uncommon game for Young as she along with Morgan led FSU to a 20-3 record, forming one of the toughest back courts in the state. During season Young averaged 16.2 points per game, using her strong, athletic build to attack off the dribble, get to the paint and score at the rim, while knocking down open shots.
Maddie Millar Maddie Millar 5'9" | CG Bishop Kenny | 2022 State FL (Bishop Kenny) – NORTH FLORIDA
During the regular season, Millar established herself as one of the state’s top outside threats and a dangerous scoring point guard. She shot 44% from 3, knocking down 4+ made 3-pointers per game while averaging 17.0 points per game. The 5’9 guard struggled in the semi-finals shooting just 3/12 from 3 and was held to 12 points with her team falling to Calvary Christian 49-37. Look for Millar to bring her scoring ability and smooth three point stroke to UNF as she was a big in state signee for North Florida Head Coach Darrick Gibbs.
Nyla Harris Nyla Harris 6'2" | PF Lake Highland Prep | 2022 State #34 Nation FL (Lake Highland Prep) – LOUISVILLE
Big time players show up in big time games and that was the case with the 6’2 forward for Lake Highland Prep Nyla Harris Nyla Harris 6'2" | PF Lake Highland Prep | 2022 State #34 Nation FL . Going up against a small, scrappy Calvary Christian squad, Harris went for 26 points and 21 rebounds in the 4A State Championship game, leading LHP to the 75-57 win. Harris has a versatile skill set that allows her to go inside and out. She was most effective throughout the season down low in the paint, using her strong lower body and broad shoulders to control the boards and finish vs contact while showcasing her ability to knock it down from 15 feet and put it to the floor from the high post and perimeter. Louisville is one of the top 5 teams in the country this year and are excited about welcoming Harris to campus this summer!
Stefanie Ingram Stefanie Ingram 5'7" | CG Lake Highland | 2022 State FL (Lake Highland Prep) – UCF
Ingram got hurt early in the season and was not able to be on the court with her Lake Highland Prep squad when they defended their title, claiming the 4A State Championship again. But when healthy, Ingram established herself as a strong, tough, gritty combo guard who plays well vs contact, can handle the ball, and is a very good on ball defender. UCF recruited Florida hard in the class of 2022 and are very excited to have Ingram suit it up for them next year, as she does not do any one thing exceptionally well but she is well rounded, plays hard, and is hard to take off the floor because she does all the things her team needs her to do and is a winner!
