Continue ReadingThe end of the year rankings for the Prep Girls Hoops Tennessee is out for the 2022 class. This past season saw some young ladies take huge strides into solidifying their legacy amongst their class. The year was filled with some surprises, some highs and lows, as well as disappointments. What I can honestly say, that in the class, there were some true female hoopers who played the game the right way and left a high benchmark for those to follow. At the end of the season, there can only be one winner. Though some may have fell short of their goal of delivering a gold ball to their school, this doesn’t take away their success and all that they accomplished on the floor.
In this article, we here at PGH Tennessee would like to highlight a few young ladies who left it all on the line, night in and night out. They play the game with passion and determination. Like I mentioned earlier, they have truly set the benchmark for others to follow in their footsteps. Here are a few ballers who stock rose throughout the 2021-2022 season.
Jennifer Sullivan Jennifer Sullivan 5'7" | CG Bearden | 2022 State TN (5’7/ CG/ Sr./ Bearden)– Gold ball. Check. 4A Miss Tennessee Player of the Year. Check. All Tournament. Check. All Districts. Check. This young lady is an all around MVP. Coming into the year, Jennifer knew she wanted to go out with a bang her senior season. After putting in work in the offseason, she was determined to deliver something her classmates could remember her by. This talented young lady may be taking her talents just 2 hours west of her hometown, but the things she accomplished this year will be forever remembered. She’s a dual threat, multi-level scorer who will surely take the next level by storm. Tennessee Tech is getting a heck of a player. Jenn has risen to take the top spot in the class of 2022 PGH Tennessee rankings.
Kennedy Claybrooks Kennedy Claybrooks 5'5" | CG Bartlett | 2022 State TN (5’5/ PG/ Sr./ Bartlett)– Often overlooked, this heady floor general came out this year on a mission. Though her team fell short of contending for state, the on floor performance Kennedy gave nightly was something to watch. From making dimes to hitting clutch shots, she gave attendees something to watch plus more. Kennedy made a name for herself over the previous travel ball season, which carried over into the HS season. The way she carries herself both on and off the court, makes people attracted to her. Her leadership capabilities as well as the way she attacks the game, will carry over into a successful career at the next level. Texas State is getting a true Tennessee hooper.
Zyion Shannon Zyion Shannon 5'7" | CG Stewart's Creek | 2022 State TN (5’7/CG/ Sr./ Stewarts Creek)– An underdog. A tenacious fighter. Zyion is a gym rat who has fought her way into the minds of people. The TSU commit is flawless when it comes to having the ball in her hands. With a smooth shot and the ability to change speeds, Zyion is a tough matchup nightly. She may have a quiet demeanor, but packs a big game. Over the AAU season, she had a coming out party, which lead to a successful senior year in high school. The Lady Tigers will be getting a stud this upcoming year.
Alindsey Long Alindsey Long 5'6" | CG Arlington | 2022 State TN (5’6/ SG/ Sr./ Arlington)– Underrated. Overlooked. Alindsey is a tough ball player. This kid can find the bottom of the net, defend, and is willing to help carry a team on her back. Her unselfish play allows her to easily get into the flow of the game. This senior season, she led her squad to some impressive wins over the course of the year. She’s still on the market and anyone who has an open roster spot would be getting a heck of a ballplayer.
Sarah Burton Sarah Burton 5'7" | CG Clinton | 2023 State TN (5’8/ CG/ Sr./ Clinton)– Hard -nosed sharpshooting guard who can find the bottom of the net from multiple levels on the floor. The UVA-Wise program is getting a true hooper next year. Sarah had such a phenomenal career where she posted impressive numbers every single season. She led her Lady Dragons club to new milestones each season over her high school career. From knocking down shots to playing on the defensive end, Sarah plays the game the right way, being selfless, a team player, and let’s the game come to her.
Beth Nelson Beth Nelson 6'0" | SF Oakland | 2022 State TN (6’0/SF/ Sr./ Oakland)– The Brown commit had a great senior year where she flourished on the hardwood. She was an intrical part of the Oakland Lady Patriots success as made it to state this year. Beth took huge leaps this past season in both AAU and during the HS season. From being an offensive threat and huge defensive factor, she finished in multiple statistical categories nightly as her team racked up wins throughout the 2021-2022 campaign. Her stock rose over the course of the year and someone to keep tabs on as she competes at the next level.
Bergen Allee Bergen Allee 5'8" | SG Summit | 2022 State TN (5’8/ SG/ Sr./ Summit)– Will be taking her talents across seas to The University of St. Andrew’s in Scotland. The 6-AAAA All Tournament team member had a solid season where she and her Lady Spartans fought hard throughout the year. Bergen, who can score the rock, prides herself in doing the little things such as defense and rebounding the ball. She isn’t afraid to accept a challenge and is always willing to go out and execute an assignment that her coach gives her. She puts her team above any individual opportunities. A multi-level scoring threat who works tirelessly in the gym to perfect her craft. Good luck across the pond as we cheer for you from the states.
