Continue ReadingOn Saturday, I spent the day at Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, FL to get my eyes on some of the top talent trying out for FGB this summer. FGB is the only Girls UAA (Under Armour Association) sponsored program in Florida. Here were some players that stood out:
Fantasia James Fantasia James 5'10" | SF Oakleaf | 2023 State FL | 2023 | 5’10 SF
Fantasia was the most athletic player in the gym all day. She can get UP in a hurry. I saw her touch the rim at one point using that quick-spring bounce she has. Fantasia scored it inside and outside all day as no one could stop her from the lower teams. She’s got some nice offers, and there will surely be more after this summer.
Tyja Beans Tyja Beans 6'0" | PF Spruce Creek | 2023 State FL | 2023 | 6’0 F
Tyja is another piece of this FGB squad that has good length and can finish amongst the trees and range outside for a trey. She can score it at all three levels, finishes at the rim with both hands, and just gets buckets and boards by flat out outworking everyone in the paint.
Morgan Sieper Morgan Sieper 6'0" | PG Plant | 2023 State FL | 2023 | 6’0 PG
Morgan has great size and shooting ability for a point guard. Her court vision, IQ, and passing are what makes her a really good PG that pairs nicely with her range from deep. She moves well without the ball and gets everyone involved on both ends with great communication.
Arianna Mosley Arianna Mosley 5'9" | SF Tampa Prep | 2023 State FL | 2023 | 5’9 SF
Arianna is a super athletic hooper with a great frame and length. It’s tough to stop her when she’s driving to the rim as she’s usually the better athlete and finds a way to score. She can shoot it from anywhere, too. Ari is tough on both ends of the court with great timing and ability to use that length to jump the passing lane or block a shot.
Kaylah Turner Kaylah Turner 5'5" | PG Oakleaf | 2023 State FL | 2023 | 5’5 PG
Kaylah was definitely the quickest player on the floor on Saturday. She’s able to get by you and then has a beautiful mid-range jumper that makes her hard to defend. I was really impressed with her intensity on defense that put a lot of pressure on the other team’s ball handler.
Ava Stoller Ava Stoller 5'6" | PG St. Petersburg | 2023 State FL | 2023 | 5’6 PG
Ava is another quick player who is really tough and in your face on defense. She’s the definition of a dawg who you want on your team. She has good ball control, keeps her dribble low, and can score it from anywhere with some crafty moves and a smooth jumper.
Zahariah Jones Zahariah Jones 6'0" | PF Oak Ridge | 2024 State FL | 2024 | 5’11 F
Zahariah has really good length and can step out to hit a shot from 15 feet and beyond. She uses that wingspan to get her hands on shots in the lane and cross-court passes. I really liked her work on getting rebounds on both ends as well.
Beckham Hockley Beckham Hockley 5'7" | PG Sickles | 2024 State FL | 2024 | 5’7 G
Beckham has been in straight training mode for the past couple months, so it was good to see her get out there and compete against other players of her caliber. She takes care of the ball, controls the tempo, and can shoot it lights out. Watch for her to get in a groove come circuit time.
