The #4 seed, Amesbury, is led by senior wings Gabby Redford Gabby Redford 5'10" | SG Amesbury | 2022 State NewE and Avery Hallinan Avery Hallinan 5'10" | CG Amesbury | 2022 State NewE , who has been a deadly 1-2 punch this season. Squaring off against Amesbury were #10 Millbury, whose dynamic duo of Ashley Lagor and Bianca Vincequere Bianca Vincequere 5'4" | CG Millbury | 2023 State NewE led their team to the Championship game. After a slow 1st quarter where both teams scored a combined 13 points, Amesbury opened it up in the second and third quarter, extending their lead to 16 by the start of the 4th. Amesbury secured the Championship by 57-31 and did so in dominating fashion.
Player of the Game:
Gabby Redford Gabby Redford 5'10" | SG Amesbury | 2022 State NewE – 5’9’’ – SG – ’22
Redford was putting on a show from the outside, hitting 4 three-pointers and completely blistering the Millbury zone. She finished with 14 points, but her three-point barrage wasn’t the biggest highlight of Redford’s night. She was responsible for guarding Millbury sharpshooting guard Bianca Vincequere Bianca Vincequere 5'4" | CG Millbury | 2023 State NewE who was coming off an 18 point outing in the semi-finals. Redford held her scoreless when defending her. Redford’s length and athleticism engulf smaller guards so that she can be a significant factor on the perimeter defending.
Amesbury Standouts:
Avery Hallinan Avery Hallinan 5'10" | CG Amesbury | 2022 State NewE – 5’10 – SG – ’22
Hallinan took two charges in the low-scoring first quarter that energized the team and set the tone for Amesbury. She also poured in a game-high 20 points, and she got many of her buckets inside. I liked how Hallinan didn’t settle for jump shots, took advantage of her size and length, and posted up. She made a living with her back to the basket in the second half and tortured Millbury around the rim.
Olivia DeLong Olivia DeLong 6'0" | PF Amesbury | 2022 State NewE – 6’0’’ – PF – ’22
DeLong was another big forward that Millbury had trouble matching up against inside. The lefty post was tough on the glass and solid around the basket, finishing with 7 points. DeLong can play with her back to the basket, face-up, score off the dribble, and show her range with a deep mid-range bucket.
Samantha Kimball Samantha Kimball 5'11" | SF Amesbury | 2023 State NewE – 5’11’’ – SF/PF – ’23
Kimball had an impressive game on both sides of the floor. I thought she rebounded well and was active on defense, using her size to make her mark on the game. Kimball finished in double figures with 10 points, can stretch the floor with her shooting, and passes the ball nicely. She hit cutters in stride and saw the floor well on Saturday.
