The 2022 Sunshine State Showdown served as a kickoff event to start the spring/summer travel season hosting 120 teams, 183 games, over 900 players, 2,000 fans and crowned 14 champions across eight divisions from 10U all the way to 17U. Here are some of the top 3-point shooters from the event.
Aubrey Horn (J Sizzle 2024) finished the Sunshine State Showdown on a high note, knocking down SEVEN 3-pointers in J Sizzle final game of the event versus I am Fast Elite 16U leading her squad to a 53-24 win in the 16U Inspiration Bracket. Horn’s SEVEN 3-pointers were an event high on her way to a 22-point performance! If college coaches are looking for an outside shooter in the 2024 class, Aubrey Horn would be a great player to start with!
Rainey Welson Rainey Welson 5'9" | CG Hortonville | 2025 State WI (North Tartan 16U EYBL) set the tone early for North Tartan, who came into the sunshine state raining 3s!!!!! In North Tartan’s Friday night game vs ECEDAO, out of Puerto Rico, Wilson knocked down SIX 3-pointers in a blowout win 67-37.
In Friday’s game, North Tartan made FIFTEEN 3-pointers as a team, among five players, accounting for 45 of their 67 points!!! While Wilson was hot from outside the arc knocking down SIX 3-pointers, teammate Laura Hauge Laura Hauge 5'9" | SG St. Croix Lutheran | 2024 State MN accounted for FOUR more 3-pointers. Hauge had an impressively consistent weekend, claiming the title of the weekend’s top shooter. She made FIFTEEN 3-pointers in North Tartan’s four games, knocking down THREE 3-pointers vs ECU Family 2024, FOUR 3-pointers vs ECEDAO, FIVE 3-pointers v Tre Mann Elite 16U and then THREE more 3-pointers in the championship game vs CFE 16U 3SSB. It was an impressive 3-day performance by one of the country’s top shooters in the 2024 class!
Speaking of multiple game performances, Dezmariah Soto Dezmariah Soto 5'3" | CG Faith Christian | 2024 State FL (Team Knight 2024 3SSB) strung three impressive performances together herself. Soto came out of the gates early, dropping FOUR 3-pointers in Team Knight Saturday early morning Saturday game vs J Sizzle 2024, then followed that up with THREE more Saturday night vs LB Elite 10 Blue, and capped off the weekend with FOUR 3-pointers in the championship game v Essence Silver 16U EYBL, leading her team to a 52-47 win and the 16U Imagine Bracket Championship. In the end, Soto knocked down TEN 3-pointers over the course of the weekend and showcased why she is one of the state of Florida’s top class of 2024 prospects!
Class of 2024 Guard Shania Swan Shania Swan 5'8" | SF Norland | 2024 State FL (Essence Black 16U) had herself a nice little Saturday when she knocked down THREE 3-pointers v Jupiter Jaguars 16U Saturday morning and then followed that up with THREE more later Saturday vs Miami Suns South 16U. The 5’7 Guard out of Miami Norland HS was one of the state’s top 3-point shooters in the 2021-22 High School season and looks to continue to showcase her outside shooting ability this spring/summer travel season with Essence Black 16U.
Ciara Hayes Ciara Hayes 5'5" | PG Faith Christian Academy | 2026 State FL (CFE Elite 14U) is considered one of the top prospects in the state of Florida in the class of 2026. While the Prep Girls Hoop Florida rankings for class of 2026 will not come out until the fall, Hayes will surely be at the top of the list. Throughout the Sunshine State Showdown, she surely showcased why her stock is so high and her potential is through the roof. Right out of the games, in one of the events first games, Hayes dropped THREE 3-pointers v Always 100 2026 FL Friday night, on her way to an event high 28 Points then came right back on Saturday and knocked down THREE more 3-pointers vs Orlando Basketball Club 14U in the evening. Keep your eyes on Hayes, she is one of the state’s top young talent!
Emma Risch Emma Risch 6'2" | PG Palm Bay | 2023 State #23 Nation FL (ECU Family 2023) is a Notre Dame verbal commit and one of the top players in the country. She played at a high level throughout the weekend, showcasing her impressive shooting ability while playing the PG and SG spots for ECU Family 2023. Friday night Risch did all she could to keep ECU in the game versus Essence Purple 17U EYBL. Risch scored 15 points including FOUR 3-pointers in the 46-43 loss. Risch then concluded the weekend knocking down THREE 3-pointers on Sunday v Miami Suns Team Fowles 17U EYBL to conclude the weekend. At 6’2, Risch is a talented point guard, who has deep 3-point shooting ability, excellent passing skills, and a high basketball IQ. That combined with her 6’2 frame that allows her to see over opposing defenses and get her shot off with ease, make her one of the country’s top prospects.
Kendall Kane Kendall Kane 6'0" | SF Beachside | 2025 State FL (FGB Team LW 15U UAA) had an impressive Freshman campaign for Bartam Trail High School and continued her scoring ways for FGB Team LW 15U UAA. At 6’0, Kane is one of the top prospects in the class of 2025 due to her height, high IQ, handle, and overall offensive skill. Throughout the Sunshine State Showdown, Kane also showcased her ability to knock down the open 3. On Saturday vs ECU Family 2025, Kane knocked down THREE 3-pointers and then followed that up with FOUR more on Sunday v Candace Parker Hoop Dreams Elite 15U 3SSB.
