The 2022 Sunshine State Showdown is annually Florida’s biggest travel team event in the state and serves as a warm-up event two weeks before the April evaluation period. Welcoming 120 teams in eight divisions from 10U all the way to 17U, we take a look at the top individual scorers in 16U.
Aaliyah Crump Aaliyah Crump 6'1" | SF Minnetonka | 2025 State MN (North Tartan 16U EYBL / Minnetonka HS) – Class of 2025
Crump showed up big for North Tartan Saturday night in a battle of the EYBL 16u squads when North Tartan defeated Miami Suns Team Larkins 65-63 in the semi-finals of the 16U bracket. Crump knocked down three 3-pointers, went 5/6 from the free throw line, and attacked the rim fearlessly on her way to an event high 28 points!
Rainey Welson Rainey Welson 5'9" | CG Hortonville | 2025 State WI (North Tartan 16U EYBL / Hortonville HS (WI)) – Class of 2025
Wilson is a 5’8 Guard who does it all for North Tartan. With her and her squad flying in from Minnesota, they came ready to taking home the 16U Championship going undefeated. Wilson came right out of the gates, dropping 22 points Friday night versus ECEDAO (out of Puerto Rico). Wilson put on a display from outside the arc, knocking down six 3-pointers, accounting for 18 of her 22 points! Wilson really set the tone early, scoring 18 points in the first half. She can play both the PG and SG spot, knocking down open 3s, attacking off the dribble, and getting to the rim!
Shania Swan Shania Swan 5'8" | SF Norland | 2024 State FL (Essence Black 16U / Norland HS)
Swan came out swinging early on Saturday morning putting 22 Points on the Jupiter Jaguars 16U squad in the 8 AM game. Swan struggled a bit from the free throw line but her overall offensive skill prevailed as she was a true triple threat, getting it done from behind the arc, off the dribble, at the rim, and drawing contact and getting to the free throw line. The 5’7 guard has a strong build
Ciniya Moore Ciniya Moore 5'10" | CG IMG Academy | 2024 State FL (FGB DW 16U UAA / IMG Academy) – Class of 2024
Moore, a 5’10 Guard out of IMG Academy dropped 23 Points vs v LD Elite Blue 10 on Sunday in FGB DW 16U UAA final game. Moore took a lot of shots to get it done but when she gets hot, she can create runs on her own. As a big guard, she can knock down open shots, create off the dribble and finish in traffic. She scored most of her points at the rim but also knocked down two 3-pointers
Aubrey Horn Aubrey Horn 5'8" | CG Central Florida Christian Academy | 2024 State FL (J Sizzle 2024 / Central Florida Christian Academy) – Class of 2024
Horn scored 22 Points v I am Fast Elite 16U in J Sizzle 2024 squad final game on Sunday. 21 of her 22 points came from behind the arc as she knocked down four 3-pointers in the first half and then another three 3-pointers in the second half.
Luciana Picasso Luciana Picasso 6'0" | SF Lourdes Academy | 2024 State FL (LB Elite Blue / Lourdes Academy) – Class of 2024
Picasso was an offensive juggernaut for LB Elite Blue, scoring half of her team’s points, dropping 20 on Friday night vs East Coast United in a 44-43 thriller! The 6’0 wing/forward had a great floor game and was effective in the paint using her big frame, shooting a high percentage.
Jade Jones Jade Jones 5'11" | SF King's Academy | 2025 State FL (Miami Suns Team Larkins 16U EYBL / Kings Academy) – Class of 2025
Jones was consistent throughout the weekend, playing hard on both ends of the floor. Jones created her offense from her defense, applying ball pressure, getting in passing lanes, and picking up ballhandlers in the full court. In one of the events top games, the Miami Suns Team Larkins battled North Tartan 16U EYBL in a back-and-forth battle, with North Tartan coming out on top 65-63. Jones was aggressive throughout the game, doing a great job getting into the paint and creating havoc on the North Tartan defense on her way to 20 Points!
Natalie Allen Natalie Allen 5'8" | SG Palm Bay | 2024 State FL (East Coast United Family 2024 / Eau Gallie HS) – Class of 2024
Allen dropped 19 Points versus Tre Mann Elite in the Saturday evening game. Allen, a 5’8 guard, was impressive all weekend but the Saturday night game was Allen’s top performance. She played a solid, all around, well balanced offensive game by getting into the paint off the dribble and knocking down open shots. She rebounds the ball well from the perimeter spot and plays unselfish, giving the ball up to open players and aggressively defending ball handlers.
Amelia Williams (ISA 16U / Jordan Christian Prep) – Class of 2026
Williams put her squad on the back in the second half Saturday versus Positive Prep when she dropped 15 of her 19 Points in the second half, leading her team to a 36-32 win. Williams was really good and put pressure on the Positive Prep defense, playing down hill, getting to the rim in the half court and in transition as well as knocking down open shots. She was very effective getting to the free throw line by drawing contact, going 5/8 (including 4/4 in the games final minutes) essentially icing the game.
