The stage was set and our Tennessee girls really did some damage against competition throughout the weekend. From knifing through defenses to knocking down clutch shots, the girls from the Tri-state displayed why we have some of the best girls in the country who suit up on these hardwoods. From dominating the painted ares to creating havoc on D, our Tennessee hoopers were all about competing and showing those in attendance that the game just means more around here.
Fueled and determined, the clubs from TN were primed and ready to compete. Some oppoennets left with shaking their heads cause they came up against some juggernauts of a club. Not to say that our girls were better, but to be honest with you, they were ready to get after it. Those clubs that competed, left the smokies hungry for more. More competition, more opportunities, salivating to get back on the court to compete.
The Knoxville Knockout created a great opportunity for clubs to gauge where they are. As the girls pack up and get ready for their next event, here are some young ladies who stood out amongst the girls who donned Tennessee club jerseys this weekend.
Hailey Williams Hailey Williams 5'10" | PF Sevier County | 2023 State TN (5’11/ SF/ Jr./ Sevier Co./ Tennessee Flight Trotters)
Long wing that can run the floor well in transitional situations. Repeatedly finished around the painted area through contact. Nice mid-range game, combining with the ability to step out and shoot it from the arc. Was a beast on the boards on both ends of the floor. Scores in bunches, plays the game with determination and grit.
Kiera Leffew (6’0/ G/ Jr./ CAK/ Tennessee Flight Trotters)
Possesses a sweet stroke that found the bottom of the net repeatedly through the weekend. High volume scoring threat that could light it up from different spots on the floor. Plays the game with a motor, providing her team with many defensive stops that lead to easy buckets. Was phenomenal coming off screen and knocking down shots. Spreads the floor well, providing driving lanes that lead to open 3s.
Emaligh Tarpley (5’11/ W/ Jr./ Rockvale/ EAB Tennessee 2023)
Fiery player that plays the game with passion. Knows how to use her length to her advantage. Contributed on the boards on both ends of the floor. Has a quick first step that she uses to get to the lane. Can knock down the 3 ball consistently, providing her team a spark. Took charges, played lockdown defense, and displayed high court awareness skills, hitting her teammates with timely passes that lead to scores.
Madi Lewis Madi Lewis 5'7" | CG Columbia Academy | 2023 State TN (5’8/ CG/ Jr./ Columbia Academy/ EAB Tennessee 2023)
Was out there having fun. Multi-level scoring threat that can dial it from deep or take it to the rim. Finished multiple times in the painted area against taller defenders. Doesn’t shy away from the moment, knocking down shots from beyond the arc. Repeatedly ran her team’s offense with efficiency , leading to scoring runs down the stretch.
Alaura Cox (5’6/ PG/ Fr./ Oakland/ EAB Tennessee 2025)
Shifty guard who was the catalyst to her team’s success. Played phenomenal on both ends of the floor. Though only a freshman, looked like an experienced veteran. Defensively, played lockdown defense, creating turnover opportunities for her club. Offensively, knockdown 3 balls and utilized her quickness to attack downhill to get to the paint. Scoring guard who is someone to keep your eye out for as she entrenches herself into her high school career.
Halli Stuffle Halli Stuffle 5'5" | PG Lakeway Christian Academy | 2023 State TN (5’5/ PG/ Jr./ Lakeway Christian Academy/ Tennessee Flight Trotters)
Pure PG that can score the rock at will. Halli is a coach on the floor and can read and react with the best of them. Has amazing court vision. Knows when to attack or when to get the team into an offense. Scored multiple times when the team needed a bucket. Doesn’t force the issue, smart player who is a tremendous asset and makes her team go.
Madelyn Ladd Madelyn Ladd 5'10" | PF Webb-Knoxville | 2023 State TN (5’10/ G/ Jr./ Knox.-Webb/ Tennessee Flight Trotters)
Nice two-way player that can score the rock. This weekend, she was all about making that timely assist and being unselfish. Was dominant on the defensive end, pitching balls up the court and using the sideline to get past defenders on the way to exposing defenses. Madelyn has great length and speed that translates into mismatches and opportunities to go inside and out. Heady player that does the little things right to help her team obtain the W.
Savannah Prather Savannah Prather 5'11" | PF Clarksville Academy | 2023 State TN (5’11/ SF/ Jr./ Clarksville Academy- RTG Elite)
Inside out player that can pull it from deep or unleash a nice mid-range game. Blocked shots, contributed on the boards, talked on D, and ran the floor well. Brings a nice defensive presence to the floor to go along with a smooth offensive game. Plays the game with heart and passion, her competitive attitude is infectious for those to see. She’s determined to compete no matter who her opponent is.
