A college program needing some versatile size would prefer Metcalf, but a program looking for a skilled scoring guard with size that can attack the hoop and finish at a high-level will prefer Kinnebrew. I saw Kinnebrew’s development take place last off-season when I saw her for ND Attack. She had a more skilled and confident control on the ball, allowing her to shake the defender and get to the hoop and finish with ease. Bergan, in the WDA, broke-out and scored 17.8 ppg. and nearly shot 50% from the field.
#4 Maya Metcalf Maya Metcalf 6'2" | PF West Fargo Sheyenne | 2023 State ND – 6’2 F 2023 – West Fargo Sheyenne – North Tartan EYBL – Maya had a breakout season and has expanded her game and her overall skill-set. She has an uncommon ability to go off the dribble and pull-up at 6’2, along with shooting the three at a high clip. She made 40 threes on the season at 37%, hauled down 8.0 rebounds per game, and scored 13.8 points per game. The North Tartan EYBL program seemed to take notice of Metcalf’s rise, as they offered her a spot on the roster.
#5 Allison Undlin Allison Undlin 6'4" | C Mohalll-Lansford Sherwood | 2023 State ND – 6’4 C 2023 – Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood – ND Attack – Allison’s 6’4 frame is hard to ignore and is a major reason for her ranking. But, that’s not the only reason. She runs well from rim to rim and is a major rim-protector. She controls the paint on both ends in Class B North Dakota. Offensively, she can seal and pin very deep into the paint to get easy looks for two. She’s not going to put the ball on the floor and breakdown a defender, and she knows that. Very smart about getting the ball to a guard, to then get down in the paint to receive the ball where she is more effective from.
#11 Ashley Wacha Ashley Wacha 5'10" | CG Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND – 5’9 G/F 2023 – Fargo Davies – Missouri River Elite – Ashley keeps steadily progressing throughout the years. She was given more of an opportunity this past season to showcase herself for Fargo Davies. Ashley thrives in an up and down game that is fast-paced. Has good length and size for a guard that can defend with versatility. On a stacked roster, Ashely contributed 8.3 ppg. and 4.7 rpg. Recently received a D2 offer from the University of Mary.
#12 Mykendra Messer Mykendra Messer 5'10" | SF St. Mary’s | 2023 State ND – 5’10 Wing 2023 – St. Mary’s – Mykendra (Mykie) Messer is a major mover in the rankings and had a standout season. She scored at a high pace at 14.2 ppg. on 35 made threes. Another standout stat is that she was 43 of 51 from the line for 85%. Messer likely projects to a versatile wing that can defend multiple positions and is a strong interior defender.
#15 Brenna Stroklund Brenna Stroklund 6'0" | PF Kenmare | 2023 State ND – 6’0 F/PF 2023 – Kenmare – The class B All-Stater was just mentioned in the class B prospects article and makes the list as a stock-riser in the 2023 class as well. She’s steadily improving year after year. Judging on film, she’s improving her skills, especially in terms of her ball-handling and ability to play away from the hoop. As mentioned previously, she can “board and go” and becomes a scoring threat attacking the hoop. When she gets near hoop, she has a scoring mentality.
#29 McKena Koolmo McKena Koolmo 5'9" | SG Wahpeton | 2023 State ND – 5’9 G 2023 – Wahpeton – Mckena’s anticipation skills and quick hands are what make her such a great playmaker in the EDC. She is great at turning the offense over and then turning that into a transition break for Wahpeton. A simple type of game but she’s highly effective and makes plays consistently throughout a game. Around 14 points per game in the EDC. Highly productive overall prospect.
#30 Natalie Decoteau Natalie Decoteau 5'10" | SG St. John | 2023 State ND – 5’10 G/F 2023 – St. John – Natalie is a smooth and skilled 5’10 guard. Her playmaking ability as a skilled and timely passer is quite impressive. She can make dime passes and difficult passes all game. A silky smooth jumper that looks pretty from three. A glider on the court, rather than a quick-twitch athlete. A college-level prospect with a great overall skill-set, with an emphasis on her being such a great passing threat and playmaker. 1,000 point scorer to round things off.
Congrats to Natalie DeCoteau a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa and a junior for the St. John Woodchucks in North Dakota, who scored her 1,000th career point.#NativePreps #Chippewa pic.twitter.com/sJU940RYEL

#32 Karli Klein Karli Klein 5'11" | PF Garrison | 2023 State ND – 5’11 PF 2023 – Garrison – Karli is one of the best prospects that many may not know about. She has a great combination of effort, energy, and athleticism. Great movement for her 5’11 size. Always fighting for positioning with her opponent and working hard for rebounds and attacking the ball constantly. She’ll get on the floor and fight for loose balls — a true work-horse of a prospect.
#41 Taylor Christensen Taylor Christensen 5'10" | PG Glen Ullin-Hebron | 2023 State ND – 5’10 PG/G 2023 – Glen Ullin/Hebron – Taylor is a long guard that can handle the point position. She’s got some quickness to her and is a major threat shooting the ball. She’s aggressive from deep and can make contested shots from that range.
