Here were some 2023’s who stood out during practice:
Kyrstin Wolff | 6’2 F/C
Kyrstin has what every college coach is looking for: Size. She’s tall, has length, and can run the floor. During practice, she was tough to stop inside as she finished around the rim and got boards on both ends. She has the ability to stretch outside and knock down a mid-range shot or a three, too. Kyrstin has good awareness with her shot blocking, so you know the paint is well protected. This could be a big summer for her!
Kyaija Stewart | 5’10 SF
This was my first time seeing Kyaija as she moved from NY and played for Tampa Catholic this season. Right off the bat: she has good length, size, and a solid frame. Kyaija was impressive finishing at the basket with good footwork to square up for a better look. She brings really good energy to her team and gets up and down the floor well. Watch for her to breakout as a name to know in Florida.
Kana Kosaka Kana Kosaka 5'4" | PG Tampa Preparatory | 2023 State FL | 5’4 PG
Kana had one of the highest motors in the gym. She’s quick and has some nice handles that help her as an undersized guard. Her pull-up game was nice and she’s a solid distributor as the floor general. I like how aggressive she is and how she brings it on every single play.
Briyana Sapp | 5’5 G/F
I really like Briyana on the defense end. She locked down the ball handler and crowded the passing lanes for easy steals. On offense, she can knock it down, but the best part of her game is her ability to slash and take the ball to the hole with some crafty finishes.
Jinnae Williams Jinnae Williams 5'5" | PG Newsome | 2022 State FL | 5’5 PG
Jinnae continues to improve every time I see her compete. She has good IQ, court vision, and her pull-up jumper is terrific on the break. She’s a true PG that might be undersized, but she makes up for it in those other areas.
Jayla Washington | 6’0 F/C
Jayla has good size and a strong frame. She can score it around the rim and works hard on the glass by using her strength inside. She’s another one who has made some huge improvements each season!
