Sophya Barreiro Sophya Barreiro 5'4" | CG Colonial | 2023 State FL | Team Knight 3SSB | 2023
Sophya was scoring on or assisting on transition buckets all weekend long. She’s a feisty player and the definition of a DAWG that is going to outwork you and frustrate you if you’re on the opposing team. I saw her throw multiple full-court length passes that ended in points for her team. That court vision and her passing makes her one of the top guards in the state. She’ll get in your face on defense and doesn’t take a play off on either end. She’s one of the many players on Team Knight that can shoot it from deep, too. The 3SSB squad finished 4-0 on the weekend.
Xaniya Jackson Xaniya Jackson 6'1" | PF Andrew Jackson | 2023 State FL | Lady OTOD | 2023
Xaniya was the best post player I saw all weekend, and her game is only getting better. College coaches looking for size don’t need to look any further. She has a soft touch and good hands in the paint. I was impressed with her ability to get to the rim with good ball handling skills as a true post. The lane was protected all weekend as I saw her get multiple blocks with both hands. I didn’t see her take a possession off either as she was diving on the floor and got up and down the court well, too.
Janessa Kelley Janessa Kelley 5'9" | SG Blanche Ely | 2024 State FL | Team Knight 3SSB | 2024
Janessa plays up a grade level, but you really can’t tell unless you know. She does a great job of finding her spot on the arc when her PG’s are driving to the rim and looking to kick. She’ll knock it down from anywhere. The Sophomore lefty scored it often and had some smooth finger roll buckets around the rim. Janessa is a truly unselfish player that moves well without the ball and finds the soft spots in the defense. Excited to see her growth over the next two years.
Karimah Nix Karimah Nix 6'0" | SF Boca Ciega | 2022 State FL | Grindhouse Elite Club | 2022
Karimah is an unsigned senior with tremendous length and versatility. She’s very agile and athletic as a 6 foot hooper that is tough as nails. Her motor is always going and she uses her length to be disruptive on the defensive end with blocks and deflections. Nix didn’t take a play off and came through with some huge plays and buckets for a scrappy Grindhouse Elite Club.
Ashleigh Battle Ashleigh Battle 5'2" | PG Blanche Ely | 2023 State FL | Team Knight 3SSB | 2023
Ashleigh is a quick and speedy PG that controls the pace of the game. She’s crafty and dropped a ton of dimes this weekend in Bradenton. Every shooter Team Knight has was getting great looks with her ability to create off the dribble, see the floor, and dish it to her open teammate with her signature one-handed pass. She makes everyone around her better on both ends as a relentless defender and rebounder.
The Triumph Region of the PGH Circuit will head to Tennessee for the Knoxville Knockout next weekend before the first live period.
