Here are my choices for First Team, I’ll drop a Second Team as well as a few other articles from the event throughout the week, be ready and always remember, talent is and always will be, everywhere
Brooke Smith-5’10 SF (Siloam Springs HS) Arkansas Athletes Outreach Flight 2023
Smith showed me a variety of ways she could score around the basket, first of all, she battles for everything on both ends so her offensive rebounding and finishing on putbacks, many times after contact, was nice yet she also scored off the dribble from the wing or straight down the middle. She posted up defenders, and even showed the turnaround jumper, a couple of times off the glass yet the icing on the cake for me was watching her play the passing lane and handle the ball in the open court
Breanna Dudley-5’8 PG (Central HS) KC Royalty Basketball 2023
Dudley JUST DID IT for me, not only because I was intuitive enough to have the video on my camera facing the court and not me to catch her NBA three-pointer game-winner, yet I knew she’d be on the first team after her opening game. She does things instinctively, she reads the court on defense before plays happen, she recognizes mismatches, either on her or her teammates and she creates her shot to drop the jumper or attack yet her court vision in transition was also very good
Avery Marchino Avery Marchino 6'0" | SF Bethany | 2024 State OK -5’11 SG/SF (Bethany HS) Oklahoma Huskies 2023 [2024]
Marchino also sold me the first time I saw her and after I asked her was she ready and she responded “ALWAYS” her lasting impression after opening night on Friday had me smiling. She’s long and athletic, that’s the base, and her deceptive first step, her body control, and ability to finish acrobatically are all solid but so is her jumper, she creates it under pressure and elevates to drop it
Sania Jenkins-6’0 SG (Narrabeen Sports Academy) [2024]
Jenkins caught my eye a while back on the Circuit, it was on a Friday, I had just landed and was drained yet her energy gave me adrenaline so nothing has changed regarding her energy and it energizes me because she’s alert and she reacts extremely well on both ends. Her first step coupled with either finishing after contact or dropping the floater is hard to handle yet let me also add she can get her shot off whenever she wants and drops it from mid to long-range. Oh yeah, she also defends strongly and plays the passing lane
KaMyra Barber KaMyra Barber 5'9" | PG Wichita Heights | 2025 State KS -5’9 PG (Sunrise Christian Academy) Kansas Bluejays 2023 [2025]
Barber was another player that left a lasting first impression on the Circuit a few weeks ago and she just went completely off on Saturday showing she could take over a game offensively in multiple ways. Her mid to long-range jumper, with a hand in her face, is very nice, and so is her attacking the basket and finishing consistently after contact yet she also has good court vision and doesn’t force anything, huge upside
