Chantrel Clayton Chantrel Clayton 5'6" | PG Cardinal Ritter | 2024 State MO (Lady Brad Beal Elite 2023): The 5’7″ standout from Cardinal Ritter was one of the most impressive scoring guards that we watched during the tournament. The young lady they call “Tutu” has blow-by quickness, creative handles and the ability to get a bucket at all three levels. She is patient on the dribble with the ability to use her handles to set up defenders before she breaks them down.
Korrie Holcer Korrie Holcer 5'6" | CG Meadville | 2024 State MO (Earl Watson Academy 17U): The 5’5″ point guard is a Class 1 standout at Meadville and one of the players I was looking forward to seeing in person. She has impressive court vision and she doesn’t get rattled out under pressure. Her confidence level is high, even while playing up at the 17U level. She dropped some impressive dimes and she displayed some long distance shooting ability.
Monet Witherspoon (Midwest United 16U): The 5’7″ guard from John Burroughs does a little bit of everything to help her team succeed. She is a talented offensive player who can score off the dribble, play without the ball with her cutting ability and make the open 3-pointer. She also does the little things like block out every time the shot goes up. She’s an active defender to stays in the right position with her high basketball IQ.
Zoe Newland (St. Louis Phenom-Kelly 16U): The 5’7″ guard from Pattonville provided one of the top moments of the tournament early in the weekend when she hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give her team a victory. She has excellent quickness and length and solid moves off the dribble to accompany her 3-point shooting. She is also an excellent defender plays with a lot of effort and the good instincts to go along with it.
Nautica Washington Nautica Washington 5'9" | CG Battle | 2024 State MO (MO Phenom-Smith 16U): The 5’8″ point guard from Battle plays a very smooth game with the ball in her hands. She can beat defenders off the dribble going left or right and she can also change speeds to keep them off balance. She has a nice mid range game and an affective float game in the lane. She can also create for her teammates with her ability to distribute the ball.
Tara Matsen (SHOtime Basketball 16U): A 5’7″ guard from Parkview who is fearless when she is attacking the basket on the drive. She takes the contact and gets knocked to the floor a lot, but she gets right back up and comes right back at you. She is a good finisher in the lane with both hands. Her court vision is very good as she can spot open teammates and hit them with pinpoint passes.
McKenna Sousa (Della Lamb Gold 16U): The 5’6″ guard from Park Hill plays a very good overall floor game. She has a good feel for the game with confident handles and good 3-point shooting range. She can get into the lane very well and score on some off-balance shots in traffic. She did a good job of reading what the defense was doing before making her move.
Chase Giddings (Midwest United 16U): A 5’8″ 2024 combo guard form Lift for Life who was one of the more impressive defensive players that I watched during the weekend. She played the passing lanes well and her on-ball pressure was consistent. Loved the effort and it rubbed off on the rest of her teammates. She was also at her best on offense when she was able to get downhill off the dribble.
Holly Woods Holly Woods 5'4" | PG Pembroke Hill | 2024 State MO (Earl Watson Academy 16U): The 5’0″ point guard is one of the smallest players in the tournament, but she produces in a big way when she’s on the floor. She is a knock down shooter from 3-point range. If a defender closes out on her, she can get by her and get into the lane for a nice runner. She has a high basketball IQ and she plays the game at her own tempo.
Misora Nambara Misora Nambara 5'4" | PG Republic | 2024 State MO (SHOtime Basketball 16U): A 5’4″ point guard from Republic is an excellent playmaker with a nice feel for the game. She may be small, but he doesn’t deter her from getting into the lane and making plays against the taller defenders. She has good body control and she can get the ball off the glass at different angles. Her court vision is also very impressive.
Brooklyn Williams (St. Louis Phenom-Kelly 16U): A 5’2″ point guard from Ursuline Academy who was a real spark plug at both ends of the floor. When she enters the game, the tempo automatically increases. She has quick hands on defense and she loved to harass opposing ball handlers. She used her speed to get past defenders and into the lane on the drive. She also made good decisions with the basketball and she dropped several nice dimes while on the move.
Austin Hall Austin Hall 5'2" | SG Parkview | 2024 State MO (SHOtime Basketball): A 5’4″ guard from Parkview who was one of the top 3-point shooters that I watched over the weekend. She may be the size of a point guard, but she really plays well off the ball in how she moves and reads defenses to get herself open. She’s also capable of getting to the basket and scoring on the drive. If she finds a seam in the defense, she will go for it.
