Morgan Tompkins Morgan Tompkins PG Red Hook | 2022 NY ’22 | SG
Tompkins was arguably the most dominant player I watched in the Rose Classic. I love when you’re able to tell how much someone loves a sport by the way they play it. Not only is she an incredible offensive player that can always find a way to score but she had at least three blocks in one thirty-minute game. Tompkins is very athletic and she will never take a play off. What’s not to love about a player that works hard the whole game?
Lauren Filien Lauren Filien 6'0" | PF Winchendon | 2022 NY ’22 | C
Filien put on a show at the Rose Classic. The blocks, rebounds, putbacks, shots; she did it all. Talk about a force to be reckoned with, she was unstoppable. Filien grabs every rebound with purpose and is able to read the court quickly and accurately. It was so fun watching this confident center bring the ball up the court. She brings something different you don’t see every game.
Emily Delisle Emily Delisle CG Shenendehowa | 2022 NY ’22 | PG
Delisle was the general of this NY Havoc team. She really was their leader, the one that made sure everyone was in control, the one that kept the game flowing and the one that was the loudest on the court. When one of her teammates did a nice move, got an and-one or hit a shot, Delisle was both the first and loudest cheering. She was involved, locked in, and energetic the entire game. She has the ability to read the court well, and knows which play to call. She really is a true point guard who defensively wouldn’t let anyone go by her. I loved watching this team play because they seemed so in tune and together. Delisle is one of the biggest reasons behind this.
Sophie Bissaillon Sophie Bissaillon 5'11" | SG Columbia High | 2023 State NY ’23 | SG
Bissaillon was the shooter of this team. To be a successful shooter you must have confidence, make a quick read, get the shot off in time, be able to get yourself open to take shots and be consistent, and she was just that. She had no problem letting the ball fly and neither did her teammates. Bissaillon is a strong guard in general; she makes strong passes and will go in to fight for rebounds on both ends of the floor. Her strongest quality is one you don’t always see in your guards, making it a tremendously important part of her game.
Janay Brantley Janay Brantley 6'0" | PG Catskill | 2023 State NY ’23 | G
I don’t think Brantley missed a mid-range shot the whole game. She took a lot and made a lot. The mid-range shot is her go to and I can definitely see why. Whether it was off a pass or off a rip through dribble she got her shot off over defenders with a beautiful high arc, there was no way the ball couldn’t go in! Another strong part of Brantley’s game was her hustle, her heart. She goes after the ball and isn’t afraid to put up a fight.
