Every team needs exceptional guard play but sometimes it takes the girls that are willing to grind in the paint. Here are the post players that stood out to me over the weekend.
Karimah Nix Karimah Nix 6'0" | SF Boca Ciega | 2022 State FL I 6’0 I SF I 2022 I Grindhouse Elite Club 2023
Unsigned Senior Karimah Nix Karimah Nix 6'0" | SF Boca Ciega | 2022 State FL is a force inside as she can play with her back to the basket or step out on the wing. Has the skills of a guard and the size of a post which makes it hard to figure out who is going to guard her. A player that can score at all 3 levels and can handle the ball in the open court. Great passer from the block and knows how to find her teammates when she gets a double team on the block.
Julianna Frazee I 6’2 I C I 2024 I Richmond Heat 2024
Frazee was one of the best post players when it came to pinning her opponents on the block. Always finding great position inside the paint to score. A player that averaged more than 15 points and 10 plus rebounds over the weekend. She drew a lot of double teams but still had the strength and IQ to get her shot off. Runs the floor well.
Elle Roberts I 5’8 I Combo I 2027 I Mobile Lady Hornets 2026
Roberts is a young talent that continues to get better as the season goes on. I had the chance to watch her play in a few games over the weekend. She is player that wants the basketball down the stretch. Always willing to sacrifice her body to get to the rebounds. Knows how to finish at the rim as well. Has the ability to step out short corner if need be. Can guard all 5 positions.
Lesley Burton I 6’0 I PF I 2026 I Hoop-Phi Lady Ballerz 2026
Burton impressed with her ability to get great positioning on the block. She uses the drop step on the block to pin her opponents which make for some easy touches at the rim. Strong build which allows her to absorb the contact and finish. A defensive nightmare as it’s hard to guard her once she gets deep positioning on the block.
Lana VanDyke Lana VanDyke 6'0" | PF South Paulding | 2024 State GA I 6’0 I SF I 2024 I North Metro Elite 2024
Vandyke creates a lot of attention when she is in the paint. Has the ability to hit the short jump shot when opponents take away her positioning on the block. Runs the floor well in transition and is always working to get position inside. Soft touch around the rim. Knows how to high point the basketball to get the rebound on both ends.
Kaden Mccorvey I 5’10 I Combo I 2024 I North Metro Elite 2024
The thing that stood out to me about Mccorvey is she never stops working. A player that battles hard for the 50/50 balls. Always looking for ways to create extra possessions for her team. She has the ability to score at the rim and can rebound with the best of them. Has a nice drop step layup from the block. Played huge down the stretch to lead her to to the victory over Team Passion.
Xaniya Jackson Xaniya Jackson 6'1" | PF Andrew Jackson | 2023 State FL I 6’0 I PF I 2023 I Lady OTOD Pink 2023
Jackson was a force to be reckon with all weekend inside. Her strong build allows her to wear down her opponents and get some easy baskets at the rim. A player the creates a lot of attention inside which allows for her teammates to play one on one on the wing. Has the ability to step out and shoot the 3 ball consistently. Runs well in transition.
