More so, it’s a good time for players to evaluate their talent and see where they need to improve. South Florida will be well represented over the next several months.
Which area prospects could have the biggest impact?
Let’s jump into it…
Ziul Gonzalez Ziul Gonzalez 5'6" | CG Miami Christian | 2024 State FL – Miami Christian/Team Knight (PGH: 62)
2024 Ziul Gonzalez Ziul Gonzalez 5'6" | CG Miami Christian | 2024 State FL is a stock riser in South Florida. The 5-foot-5 guard averaged 11 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 43 percent from the field for the 2A state champions. Gonzalez also went 33-of-98 (34 percent) from deep. She recently shot the ball well at the Sunshine State Showdown. Gonzalez’s outside shooting propensity saw her ranking boost 22 spots.
E’Zaria Adams E’Zaria Adams 5'8" | SF Palm Beach Central | 2023 State FL – Palm Beach Central/Miami Suns (PGH: 35)
2023 E’Zaria Adams E’Zaria Adams 5'8" | SF Palm Beach Central | 2023 State FL is a versatile prospect on the court. The 5-foot-8 guard/forward averaged 14.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 50 percent from the field this past season. Adams is a tough on-ball defender against multiple positions. I think she is establishing herself as one of the better players in Palm Beach County.
Ka’Zahria Johnson Ka’Zahria Johnson 6'2" | C St. Thomas Aquinas | 2024 State FL – Norland/Essence (PGH: 7)
Ka’Zahria Johnson Ka’Zahria Johnson 6'2" | C St. Thomas Aquinas | 2024 State FL has an immense amount of potential as a 6-foot-2 post. She averaged a double-double for Norland (11.1 ppg/11.1 rpg) due to her size and athleticism. Johnson will also block shots (2.4 bpg) thanks to her range. She should continue to work on her offensive efficiency but already has unteachable traits to score around the basket. Johnson can be automatic off putbacks alone. She has plenty to offer a college program and is only improving.
Gianna Corbitt Gianna Corbitt 6'1" | SF Blanche Ely | 2024 State FL – Blanche Ely/Team Knight
Gianna Corbitt Gianna Corbitt 6'1" | SF Blanche Ely | 2024 State FL is athletic enough to play multiple positions on the court. The 6-foot-1 forward can score with her back to the basket or off the dribble in the paint. More so, Corbitt can drive and kick to teammates on the perimeter. Her overall playmaking ability is strong on both ends of the floor. Corbitt appears to be healthy and her best basketball is well ahead of her.
Tamara Elliot – Western/Tampa Thunder (PGH: 35)
2024 Tamara Elliot is an athletic guard out of Western High School. The listed 5-foot-6 guard has a good handle and quick first step off the dribble. Elliot can score off the bounce and does a good job attacking the rim. Moreover, she is effective finisher at the bucket. Elliot averaged nine points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 3.3 steals for the 18-8 Wildcats. Furthermore, Elliot posted nine double-figure outings. She could become a team leader with 2022’s Taja Stephens Taja Stephens 5'8" | CG Western | 2022 State FL and Jordan Pravato Jordan Pravato 5'8" | SF Western HS | 2022 State FL graduating.
