Day 1 (May 14) featured a 10 game slate with 20 teams in the 16U Division placed into two pools (A&B) overall four game guarantee, two games each day.
Here are the names of players who performed well on Day 1: Consisted of Great shooting, tenacious defense and unselfishness all around.
Carmin Arkin – State 38 2024
Carmin Arkin is a serious force in the paint. Arkin does a good job of being a “BACKDOWN PUNISHER”, meaning she does a good job of getting good post position who utilizes different moves to score in the lane. Carmin is big and strong and does a good job of rebounding on both ends of the floor. Carmin Arkin plays with good energy and flashed the ability to push the ball up the court to get the offense started but also can shoot the mid range jumper primarily from the elbow.
Malorie Byrne – BC Denver 2024
Malorie Byrne Malorie Byrne 6'1" | SF Arvada West | 2024 State CO is a remarkable forward who moves well without the ball; Byrne’s comes off down screens, flare screens and dribble handoffs for wing and corner 3s. Keep in mind, Malorie is listed at 6’1”. Malorie Byrne Malorie Byrne 6'1" | SF Arvada West | 2024 State CO also does great job of utilizing an over the shoulder shot in the lane against smaller defenders – It’s always a quick one dribble and up no second thoughts.
Alex Eschmeyer – Colorado Hoopsters 2024
Alex Eschmeyer is a very long athletic forward who can score inside the lane but also extend out to the 3pt line and shoot. Alex also can put the ball on the floor and likes to get to her strong hand, left hand. On the flip side Alex uses her length very well on the defensive end: Eschmeyer is a great help side defender and shot blocker.
Olivia Klein Olivia Klein 5'6" | PG Resurrection Christian | 2025 State CO – BC Denver 2024
Olivia Klein Olivia Klein 5'6" | PG Resurrection Christian | 2025 State CO is an all around guard and knock down shooter from multiple spots on the floor. Olivia has deep range from the top of the key and wing; Klein is also a willing passer who can get into the lane and dish out to perimeter teammates for easy buckets.
Jera Kruleski Jera Kruleski 5'7" | SG Holcomb | 2024 State KS – Kansas Magic 2024
Jera Kruleski Jera Kruleski 5'7" | SG Holcomb | 2024 State KS is an impressive wing player who knows how to get to her spots, free throw line extended. Jera handles the ball well on the perimeter and is great in open space specifically on the fast break where she is able to make multiple contested layups. Kruleski is a proficient 3pt shooter and will fire multiple attempts if left open.
