Who doesn't love a fun weekend by the beach? When that weekend includes basketball, it is about as complete a Saturday-Sunday getaway as one can get.

The latest event in the Triumph Region of the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit emanated from Daytona Beach, Florida – more specifically, Mainland High School – a 5A campus that is home of the Buccaneers and the high school alma mater of Vince Carter. Southeast Slam welcomed teams from not only the home state of Florida but also Georgia, South Carolina and Illinois.

There were plenty of standouts from the 2025 and 2026 classes that showed all weekend what being a Gamechanger is all about. Here is who caught our attention.

Evie Freeman – 2026 – The Bolles School – Blue Heat 2026 – Blue Heat 2026 shined throughout Southeast Slam in the Sunshine State and Freeman was among those who shined the brightest. She was integral in her team's 3-1 run throughout the tournament with the lone blemish coming against Miami Impact 2025. She will set herself up near the rim to make things happen with high-percentage shot chances and is efficient as a transition floor-runner. Freeman can sink shots from midrange and is not afraid of drawing contact which will put her at the free throw line. Listed at 5-foot-7, she had a 15-point game in one of her team's Saturday wins.

Mia Chandler – 2026 – Twins Lakes Academy – Lady OTOD 2026 – In one of her team's Saturday games – a rout of Space Coast Fury 2026 – it appeared they had no answers for Chandler. A highlight of her weekend was the 16 points she dropped in that Saturday which, at the time, ran her team's record to 1-1. She can make tough shots, is impressive at taking care of the ball and has no issues dribbling amongst a sea of defenders. Chandler also will drive to the rim when she has the rock in her hands and can haul in a rebound after a missed free throw attempt after she boxes out. She made the 14U First Team from Triumph Region Kickoff last month in Bradenton at IMG Academy.

Malayah Matthews – 2027 – Celebration K-8 – Nona Basketball Academy 2025-2 – When Matthews' team earned its first win of the tournament – a 45-11 decision over FGC Miracle Aqua 2025, she showed everyone in attendance why she is playing up two classes. She stands at 5-foot-6 and displays what she can do as a distributor of the ball as well as one who limits turnovers. Matthews can efficiently run the floor and knows how to locate open teammates either in transition or in a halfcourt offensive set. She is also unafraid of contact which will put her at the free throw line and can make things happen near the basket. In that victory, she tallied 14 points.

Evie Skog – 2025 – Mother McAuley – Illinois Dream 2025 – Skog and the rest of her Illinois Dream 2025 teammates were clearly unfazed by the daunting travel to Florida as they finished Southeast Slam with a perfect 4-0 mark. One of two Mother McAuley players on the AAU team's roster, she has a knack for draining 3-point attempts as well as for finding her way to the free throw line. Skog is also skilled with driving to the basket and displays her toughness as she will fall to the floor to complete a play. In one of those victories, she scored 11 points against Florida-based Nona Basketball Academy 2025 Black.

Victoria Valle Victoria Valle Victoria Valle 5'7" | PG Grandview Prep | 2027 State FL – 2027 – Somerset Silver Palms – Miami Impact 2025 – Valle is one of three Stallions on the Miami Impact 2025 roster in addition to playing up a pair of classes. She thrives in the transition game, getting to the free throw line and as a 3-point shooter. Valle proved to be one of the key reasons why her team made the four-hour trip back to South Florida having gone undefeated for Southeast Slam – and its schedule included 17U and 16U teams. Valle finished with 12 points in what was a 47-42 victory on Sunday in one of the final contests of the weekend tournament.
