The Class of 2022 has a strong presence of perimeter players, both at the point and on the wing. As far as off-guards go, our Top-250 is home to 53 of them, making up 21.2% of all 2022 prospects ranked in Indiana. There are several talented, high-scoring girls, nice athletes, versatile defenders, and playmakers who can occasionally run the offense. Below is a look at those 53 prospects, as well as some added information and analysis on a handful of girls who have stood out since our last rankings update in January.

– I saw Macie for the first time last Spring at a grassroots event. She is a strong, physical combo guard who plays with a great motor. She plays low to the ground, she likes to attack downhill, and if she gets the corner on you, she is either going to finish at the rim or earn a trip to the free throw line. She is also a capable perimeter shooter, and she can slide over, handle the ball, and initiate the offense as a point guard.

, 2022, 5-7 SG, Gary West Side Leadership Academy
– Trinity returned to West Side this season following two years away, and she put together a really nice final campaign. She is a long, strong, quick/fast, and explosive guard who can play anywhere inside the 84 x 50-foot box. She could stand to be a more consistent perimeter shooter, but she is a shot-maker and a big-time scorer, having averaged 23.5 ppg this past season. She can also defend the length of the floor and disrupt opposing ball-handlers. To the best of my knowledge, she remains uncommitted and could be a real steal at this point.

, 2022, 5-7 SG, Union City H.S.
– Mariah had a strong career for Union City, but it wasn’t until she really started to get into grassroots ball during the 2021 season that her game got the attention it deserved. She is a long, wiry-strong, and fluidly athletic “Swiss Army Knife”. She can score the ball at all three levels, though she’s best off the bounce, and she can even slide over and run offense from time to time. I like her motor and quiet toughness, and she is a versatile defender who can take on most guards, wings, and even some forwards. She will play at Bethel (IN) next year.

, 2022, 5-6 SG, New Albany H.S.
– I initially saw Maleea between her 8th Grade and Freshman years, and I thought she had a lot of upside. But since then, I really hadn’t heard much about her again until this season. She averaged 15.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per game, plus she knocked down 34 3-pointers. She is a fairly long, wiry-strong, and athletic guard. She has solid ball skill, but I’d consider her more of a creative scorer who loves to attack, than a point guard who runs offense. I don’t know of her being committed anywhere at this time.

Terre Haute North Vigo | 2022

, 2022, 5-8 CG, Terre Haute North Vigo H.S.
– Zoe has always been a nice talent, but this year she became an unstoppable force offensively. She erupted for 42 and 45 points in consecutive games, and she scored in the 30s six more times this season. She has great length at her height, she is a wiry-strong kid, and she’s a bouncy athlete who can stop on a dime and change directions in an instant. She just has a natural feel for the game and an ability to create space that’s rare. She has also improved at the defensive end. She will head to Murray State University to play basketball next Fall.

, 2022, 5-8 SG, Franklin Community H.S.
– Ashlyn and her younger sister transferred into Franklin this past year, helping the Grizzly Cubs to a Class 4A State Finals appearance. Ashlyn was outstanding throughout the season, providing another scoring threat, a toughness, and a motor to the lineup. Her skillset continues to improve, and she has transitioned from more of a wing spot to a true guard, but she has always possessed good vision and solid ball skills. I was really impressed with her defensive assertiveness this year as well. She has signed to play at Division-I Radford University.
