Doing the little things, but also standing out amongst the competition, these young ladies peaked the interest in all who attended. PGH scouts were on hand and took notice of some very young talented individuals who were turning a lot of heads out there. From scouts, bloggers, and coaches, these female ballers created a buzz throughout the facility.The Music City Showdown was just a taste for those who were able to come out to see what Tennessee hoopers are all about.
As the circuit moves onto the next stop, and the season continues to roll, we just wanted to reflect on some Tennessee girls who stood out amongst the competition at hand. These girls did an impressive job, not only in competing, but refining their skills and showing folks that there is something brewing in our state. I said it before and I will say it again, the state of Tennessee is about to have an infusion of talent to compete in the high school ranks. Our platform was able to capture a few kids, but here are some notable players both scouts and coaches need to keep an eye on through the summer campaign.
Torri James Torri James 5'11" | PF Rossview | 2024 State TN (5’11/PF/So./Rossview/TN Sol)– A long and lanky forward, brings a solid inside and out presence to the floor. Can score the rock in many ways, while contributing on the boards. A walking double-double every time the ball tips off, she’s a two-way player who is a huge difference maker. Great motor, great foot speed, tough competitor, Torri has huge upside and will be a steal for any program looking to get an early jump in their recruiting.
Maggie Hale (5’7/PG/Jr./Gallatin/Music City Jammers)– A leader amongst young ladies, this kid is tough. A sharp shooter from beyond the arc, this young lady can get to the cup, dish the rock, run an offense, and lockdown on the defensive end. Had a huge weekend, where she was nominated as the player of the game. Maggie brings a ton of qualities to the table. One of the most effective things besides her style of play, is how she communicates with her team to get them into the correct offense or defense. A coach on the floor, a selfless player, Maggie continues to get better every time she steps on the floor.
Emiyah Cobb Emiyah Cobb 5'10" | CG Clarksville Northwest | 2023 State TN (5’6/PG/Jr./ Clarksville NW/ TN Sol)– Super tough and talented, this young lady is awesome. Dynamic with the ball in her hands, she’s a multi-level scorer who can dish the rock. Her shiftiness allows her to attack gaps, creating opportunities for her or her teammates. She thrives on the defensive end, pickpocketing opponents, leading to east buckets. Changes speed on a dime, she is the orchestrator to a lethal TN Sol attack. Keep a eye on her as she progresses throughout the rest of the season.
Imari Berry Imari Berry 5'10" | SG Clarksville | 2024 State TN (5’10/CG/SO/Clarksville/ TN Sol)-She’s just different. Special talent who is one of the next big names to come out of the state. This 3 level hooper is phenomenal with the ball in her hands. She can score with ease, possesses a sweet jumper, and has such a basketball IQ, that she recognizes things before they happen. Defensively, she is a gem, creating havoc and transition buckets, she’s a go-getter and plays relentlessly on defense. Already holds power 5 offers. Super tough kid who has such a high ceiling. She has so much untapped potential and she’s just getting started.
Brianna Burgess Brianna Burgess 5'10" | SG Creek Wood | 2023 State TN (5’10/SG/Jr./Creek Wood/ Stars Basketball Club)– Fun kid to watch, she is tough to defend. Brianna can score it from multiple levels, coming off screens or creating shots for herself. Has great footwork, that allows her to be in either catch and shoot positions or take it downhill depending on what the defense gives her. She’s a beast from beyond the arc , shooting at a high clip. Don’t let the offensive accolades fool you, she’s a tough defender who gets it done. Hard working kid who has been stellar in her HS career.
Madi Lewis Madi Lewis 5'7" | CG Columbia Academy | 2023 State TN (5’7/PG/Jr./Columbia Academy/EAB Tennessee)– solid prospect that can shoot the rock. Can pull up from deep, or step inside the arc for a mid-range J. Has the ability to get to the rim and finish against contact. High basketball IQ, sees the floor well. Delivers timely passes, creating opportunities for her teammates. Solid defensive player. Great two-way prospect with a lot of upside.
Addie-Gene Puckett Addie-Gene Puckett 5'11" | PF Hickman County | 2023 State TN (5’10/SF/Jr./Hickman Co./Stars Basketball Club)– Very solid kid who can shoot the ball deep consistently. Brings a nice inside presence to the game to go along with her 3pt threat ability. Isn’t afraid to do the dirty work. Crashes boards on both ends, leading to transition buckets. Solid two-way player who is someone to keep up with . Athletic forward that has great size and length.
