Well I keep forgetting one of my sayings, “you can’t use LOGIC in an ILLOGICAL setting yet I also go back to the “talent is everywhere) mindset and here are four of the talented stars I actually went and asked for their names on opening day
Haydyn Collie (Fierce) 2022
Collie also would have been on the Tip Sheet from “All Eyes On She” a couple of weeks ago, no roster then either but I wrote her name down yet my car was broken into and everything was taken, even my notes yet as luck would have it, I had a chance to see her again and she proves I did NOT see a mirage. She’s also one of the players I missed, she was HOMESCHOOLED and there are so many players out that fall through the cracks yet she’s around that magic number of 6’0, she can score off the dribble, facing the basket as well as on putbacks, yes she rebounds on both ends but what I really liked was her defense, moves her feet well in the pain and reacts quickly
Taylor Minor (GL Magic) 2023
Minor was a MAJOR problem to defend for a number of reasons, first of all, she handled the ball under pressure and saw the floor, not leave out her on the money passes in traffic but she also scored off the dribble and dropped the long-range a few times and that, as well as her solid defense, all stood out and that was “on the ball” pressure
Jane Butler (GL Magic) 2023
Butler answered the bell by scoring countless ways off the dribble and by either attacking from the wing or straight down the middle, she had good body control to finish when the defender attempted to block her shot. She also dropped the mid to long-range consistently and hit a few deep ones in the row. The shot is fluid, the release is quick and she even showed the “catch and shoot”
Tiara Louis (SA Lady Arnold) 2023
Louis is long and athletic, yes that is still the base and her first step sets everything up because she scores off the dribble using it, and finishes after contact, but she also can hit the pull-up jumper using it as well. Her ability to create her shot keeps getting better and that’s mid to long-range, she plays the passing lane and does a good job of not only handling the ball under pressure but seeing the floor. One more thing, she has quick hands and does a good job defending, “on the ball”, baseline to baseline
