Cpeeritt Plummer-5’11 PF (Austin Elite RFW) |2023|
Plummer has made an impressive comeback after being out with a couple of injuries however watching her perform throughout the latter part of the season, starting with TJ Showcase, you would have never known. She’s strong and powerful around the basket, whether rebounding or finishing, yet a couple of EXTRA things stood out on Day 3. She dropped the short jumper and attacked off the dribble to finish
Elizabeth Abara-6’2 PF (Pro Skills 17U National) |2023|
AbaraJ UST DID IT for me. Don’t remember seeing her before but she’s “long and athletic” plus stands over “the magic number” which is 6’0 if you didn’t know. What I do know is she has excellent timing to block, alter and(or) deflect shots, she’s active on both ends of the court and she defends. Her presence in the paint is more than solid yet she also can step out and apply “on the ball pressure” and her “hands and footwork” are huge pluses
Crystal Jones- 5’11 PF (Austin Elite RFW) |2023|
Jones turned in some GAME CHANGING performances all season. After being relatively unknown, she has blossomed while creating plenty of buzzes recently with a dominating inside performance against one of those ” PLATFORM” squads. Yet, it’s always about getting in where you fit in and she simply jumps out of the gym going after the ball. Her relentlessness doesn’t stop there as she scored with players literally hanging on her
Atlyn Bartley-6’0 PF ( Pro Skills 17U National) |2023|
Bartley uses her body well; she understands the game and plays within herself, yet her rebounding, on both ends, and her running the floor, stood out on both ends. She also did a good job finishing around the basket yet her passes were nice and crisp, also defended well
Makenna Yorkley- 6’1 PF (Tulsa JYD) |2024
Yorkley was a pleasant surprise, not sure what the team’s acronym stands for but if it’s that wrestler, I get it. She’s tall and can handle the ball in the open court, under pressure, yet her scoring off the dribble and finishing with either hand was nice, and so was her rebounding strongly, on both ends. She also scored after contact on putbacks, and her defense both in and outside the paint was solid
Janiyah Alvarez-6’0 PF (16U TRU FAM Team Truth) |2024|
Alvarez goes after EVERYTHING off the rim. Another player I was clueless about yet one more time, Texas is a big state, and “talent is everywhere” so after chatting with her club coach, Roy Green, one of the top trainers in the Austin area for, well ever, I get it. She’s blossoming into something special, hey her athleticism and skill set combined with her “you won’t outwork me” mindset spoke volumes
Kendall Beck Kendall Beck 6'2" | C FEAST | 2024 State TX -6’2 PF (Austin Elite RFW) |2024|
Beck silently does huge things and as she fills up the stat sheet, she filled in many blanks, like how about that “clutch basket” to help change the momentum or one of those “defensive stopper” blocks I love seeing. Yes, she can score around t basket as well as facing it but her strong rebounding, on both ends, as well as her defense has not only gotten better but played a big part in her team’s success throughout July
Sakenna Gordan-61 PF (16U TRU FAM Team Truth) |2024|
Gordan would be a FLASH, but no O, well actually she is as I drop the OMG acronym regarding her upside. The same club coach and the same trainer gave me some insight into where she was and I definitely see where she is now. It’s all about progression, for me, and her understanding of how to use her body around the basket is part of why I’m talking upside. She rebounds, runs the floor, and scores around the basket, yes putbacks included
