Grace Booth Grace Booth 5'10" | SG Glen Rose | 2024 State TX 2024 5’11 Hico High School (West Texas Shockers 2024)
Grace is an elite combo guard who showed am ability to finish through contact at the rim, create looks for her teammates within the half court and even stretch the floor off the dribble. She has great size for a point guard, and loves to use it to her advantage after taking her opponent off the bounce. She lived in the paint all day, if she created a glimmer of separation she slipped through it to get into the lane. I was very impressed with her aggressiveness and ability to create space with and without the basketball.
She was willing to move without the ball and cut to the basket, but her true prowess lies in her ability to create with a live dribble. She created countless looks for her teammates, and her passes were always in the right spot to allow her teammates to quickly get a shot off. She got her bigs involved and found them on numerous dump off passes for effortless looks in the paint, but also found her shooters in the corner when the defense collapsed on them. Her calmness and decision making with the basketball was truly on display and I was very impressed with her overall feel for the game.
Riley Grohmann 2024 5’11 Jim Ned High School (Texas Platinum 2024 Bruce)
Riley is a dynamic playmaker with a live dribble who has a real feel for the game in the full court and the half court. She showed an ability to push the tempo and go coast to coast after snatching a rebound, but her true prowess lies in her ability to read the defense in the half court. She is calm with the basketball and LOVES getting her teammates involved. She always made the extra pass to set up a teammate for a better look, even in the paint making dump off passes to her bigs to easily finish rather than her attempting to put up a shot over the defense. She is not just a passer however, she calmly turned the corner on her opposition and exploded out of the triple threat to keep the defense off balance.
On defense, she is aware and reads her opposition very well to come up with quick steals by poking the ball free, or jumping the passing lanes. Her ability to create turnovers and havoc was very impressive and gave her and her team easy opportunities to finish on the fast break. She showed an ability to go coast to coast, but also made the right outlet passes to find streaking teammates and even tough bounce passes when she had a two on one. I was incredibly impressed with her basketball IQ, she truly did it all on both ends of the floor.
Za’Kenya Thompson 2024 5’6 Spring High School (Houston Lady Nets 2024)
Za’Kenya is a skilled guard who sees the floor well and can initiate offense for her teammates. I was very impressed with her confidence with a live dribble and ability to turn the corner and get out of traps in the full court. She was good at keeping her head up and stepping through the small gaps that were left in the trap, she calmly squeezed through just as the defense got there and kept her head up to deliver an accurate pass down the court. She has the ability to put soft touch on her passes in the full court to effortlessly find her teammates in stride. I was very impressed with her ability to play out of the pick and roll as well, she constantly made the right decisions and even pulled up from beyond the arc when given enough space.
Taylor Spencer Taylor Spencer 5'8" | PG Cleveland | 2024 State TX 2024 5’7 Cleveland High School (Houston Lady Nets 2024)
Taylor is a skilled combo guard who is able to play off the ball, while also affecting the game on the defensive end of the court. She is great on the defensive side of the ball, where she takes pride in picking apart her opponents with her intense on ball defense. Her aggressiveness on that end of the floor allowed her to come up with takeaways and run on the fast break. In the full court, she is good at getting to the rim and using her end to end speed to beat her opponents to the rim. She really stood out through her ability to read and steal passes in the passing lane and finishing in the paint on the other end. She is a patient player within the half court who displayed an ability to fire out cross court passes that caught the defense by surprise and allowed her teammate a good look to shoot. She is becoming more and more aggressive at getting into the paint every time I see her, and I cannot wait to see what aspect of her game she begins to master next.
Aurora Hernandez Aurora Hernandez 5'8" | CG The Woodlands | 2024 TX 2024 5’8 The Woodlands High School (Lady Hustle 2023 National)
Aurora is a high level combo guard/wing who can score off the bounce with ease from all three levels of the floor. I was very impressed with her ability to shoot off the bounce and take the looks that the defense gave her. She scored with consistency when given space to catch and shoot from beyond the arc as well. I loved her energy and her consistency in running the floor, she always wanted to beat the defense up the court for quick buckets in transition. She is an engaged player who is always looking to read the defense and get an advantage, even when taking a breather on the bench. She is a great teammate who worked to keep her teammates engaged with high energy and positive reinforcement. I would like to see her work on her aggressiveness in getting to the rim with a live dribble.
