Taylor Spencer Taylor Spencer 5'8" | PG Cleveland | 2024 State TX 2024 5’7 Cleveland High School, TX (Houston Lady Nets 2024)
Taylor is a skilled combo guard who is able to play off the ball, while also affecting the game on the defensive end of the court. She is great on the defensive side of the ball, where she takes pride in picking apart her opponents with her intense on ball defense. Her aggressiveness on that end of the floor allowed her to come up with takeaways and run on the fast break. In the full court, she is good at getting to the rim and using her end to end speed to beat her opponents to the rim. She really stood out through her ability to read and steal passes in the passing lane and finishing in the paint on the other end.
Priya Pillai 2024 West Brook High School (Lady Storm Breaker’s Silver)
Prya is a sharp shooting guard who knocked down shots from seemingly every spot on the floor during her time on the court. Whether she was flying off screens or staying ready by spotting up in the corner, she always seems to be ready to quickly get her shot off over a defender. I loved her willingness to move without the basketball and put pressure on the defense by moving and manipulating the defense. If she can become a more dynamic ball handler and work on getting downhill to affect the game in the paint, she will become an even more valuable prospect.
Cyra Narahari 2024 (Monee Makers)
Cyra is a lanky guard who thrives on putting pressure on teams in the half court. She is an aware second defender who knows how to come over and trap the ball. In the full court, she runs the break hard, and always is right behind her teammate to follow their shot. I really liked watching how active she was on the glass on both ends of the court. She is tall and can see over the top of most defenses and consistently made the right reads every time down the court. I would like to see her work on moving without the basketball and focusing on getting enough space to either attack the basket or take a pull up jumper. I would also like to see her become a bit more confident with her handle.
Soleil Villarreal 2024 (Lady Storm Breaker’s Gold)
Soleil is an aggressive on ball defender who has a great feel for the game on the defensive end of the court. Whether she is stealing passes by jumping the passing lanes, or poking the ball free from her opponent’s live dribble she always seems to be running the other way to finish in the paint. She is great at moving her feet and angling her opponent into a help defender or the sideline, I was very impressed by her tenacity and scrappiness on the defensive end of the floor. On the offensive end of the court, she calmly created her own looks off the dribble at all three levels including two impressive deep three pointers.
Mia Alarcon 2024 5’1 Morton Ranch High School (Texas Cagers Select 2024)
Mia is an aggressive guard who specializes in her ability to defend on the ball and bump her opponents off their spots. She is great at getting underneath her opponent and moving with them through crossovers. She has a real knack of poking the ball free, she has active hands that came up with multiple steals during the first day of competition. She is great at turning defense into offense and using her end to end speed with the ball at beating the defense up the court to finish in the paint. I would like to see more consistency with her shot off the dribble, she displayed an ability to catch and shoot from the outside however so it should not be long before she becomes a complete two-three level scorer with her tenacity on both ends of the floor and how she reads the game.
Naomi Asmelash 2024 5’7 Dulles High School (Showcase Elite 2024)
Naomi is a sharp shooting guard who can do it all on both ends of the floor, which pairs well with her floor spacing ability. She is a knock down shooter from the midrange, and showed an ability to space the court. She is good at keeping her head up and making the right reads, especially in the full court. I loved her ability to push the ball in the full court and take whatever look the defense gives her. On the defensive end of the floor, she actively moves her feet and arms and closes out hard on shooters on the perimeter. I loved her tenacity to close out on shooters, even when she was on the opposite side of the floor. She screamed over to get a hand in her opponents face. She is good at getting long rebounds and stealing passes and making the right reads to punish the defense on the fast break.
