In this article, we look at the 2024 players in Jacksonville who could make significant contributions to their respective teams.
Gia Dodaro / 5’1 G / Bolles
Seeing Dodaro play this past AAU season, there is no doubt that she can play and make major contributions for Bolles this year. Dodaro played some good ball this past AAU season. She shoots the ball from all levels and is tenacious on the court. She doesn’t back down from competing on the court. Dodaro does a good job of breaking the press and her left-hand dribbling makes it tough on defenders. Dodaro will definitely make an impact this season for the Bulldogs.
Julia Farhat / SG / Bolles
Farhat is another player who could make a difference for the Bulldogs. Farhat can shoot the 3 and especially in pressure moments. She knocked down 11 three-pointers and played in 25 games last year.
Irvieona Gantt Irvieona Gantt 5'6" | SG Mandarin | 2024 State FL / SG / Mandarin
Gantt was recently recognized as one of the best flag football players in Jacksonville. That tells you what kind of athlete Gantt is. She can shoot the three-ball, plays good defense, and can rebound the ball. and is a team player. She has good size and rebounds well. She is the athletic player that can play defense, shoot the ball, and get you extra possessions.
Amina Yassin / SG / Mandarin
Yassin is a good player who loves to shoot the 3-pointer. She has good handles, she can pass the ball, and she can get to the rim with floaters and layups. With the graduation of 4 seniors, Yassin will be counted on to fill the scoring void.
Nyala Jones / 6’0 C / Mandarin
Jones could really give Mandarin an intimidating frontcourt when on the floor with Yakiya Milton Yakiya Milton 6'4" | PF Mandarin | 2024 FL . She has good size, she is a good defender, and she rebounds well, especially on the offensive glass. She will give her team extra possessions. Offensively, she is good in the pick and roll game and she can score around the basket. Jones will be a great addition for the Mustangs.
Isabelle Dionisio Isabelle Dionisio 5'2" | PG Bishop Kenny | 2024 State FL / 5’2 G / Bishop Kenny
She played with great intensity on the offensive side of the ball as well as on the defensive side. She is really an aggressive defender who plays good on-the-ball defense. Dionisio makes a lot of hustle plays and she has the trust of her coach and team when on the floor.
Asya Jones / SG / Bishop Snyder
Jones is a versatile player who can play the 1 or 2. She can shoot at all levels, scores primarily by penetrating to the basket and getting in the paint. She averaged nearly 10 points per game last season. Defensively, Jones led Snyder in steals (75) and blocked shots. She is a good on-ball defender and a menace on the defensive end. Jones is poised to have a great season and will be a player to watch.
