Continue ReadingThe inaugural New England Freshman Showcase was one for the ages! This class is full of talented prospects with unlimited potential, and they put on a show at this sold-out event. The depth of talent was insane, resulting in a fun, competitive basketball environment. Who were my 15 favorite players to watch at the event? Let’s look at players #15-#11
#15
I like Jones’ upside and thought she was really good around the basket. She has a significant advantage down low due to her length and 6’1” frame while possessing the mobility to play block to block effectively. Jones’ finishing ability with both hands is smooth, and her touch is soft. I also like how fundamentally sound Jones is, especially when rebounding, where she always kept the ball high and out of reach of the defense.

Kim was excellent in pick-and-roll action. The lefty made good reads when coming off screens, got downhill, and made dynamic plays. If the defense went under the screen, Kim would pull up from three, and if the defender went over the pick, Kim got into the mid-range and scored. Kim scans the floor well in transition and always keeps her eyes up when pushing the tempo.

Nunnally-Gardner easily has the best hands in the ’26 class. The first thing that stood out when watching her play was how strong she was down low and her ability to catch any pass in her direction. Even with passes that entered the post inaccurately, Nunnally-Gardner impressively got her hands on it and continuously made plays. She showed good post footwork and is a crafty scorer from the high post and in. Her upside is ridiculous because not only is she a polished offensive player inside but can also defend at a high level.
#12
I liked Mora’s ability to score from all three levels and do so against good defense. She is confident in her skill set and tools to create and make shots on anyone from the perimeter. She is listed at 5’8”, but her length and athleticism allow her to play bigger. She can shoot over the top of the defense and has a fluid, confident release that she can bury on a hard contest. I liked how Mora came out the gates assertively, and she made her name known as soon as the showcase began.
#11
Egan played at a high level throughout the showcase and proved to be one of the best passing forwards in the class. Her unselfishness is the first thing you notice about her; she hits her teammates with crisp, accurate passes every game. I like Egan’s size and versatility. She can play inside and out and compliments her court vision with a smooth three-point shot. She is a player with a ton of promise and upside which I think will make an immediate impact for Dexter-Southfield this winter.
