With so many, we decided to run back our updated Top 20 rising seniors in New Jersey. We’ve already finished the Top 10, so it’s time to explore the next 10, starting with the No. 11-15 2023 prospects.
No. 11: Rylee Drahos Rylee Drahos 5'7" | CG Shore | 2023 State NJ – 5-7 CG, Shore
Drahos is simply put, one of the best scorers in the state and she will likely be back in our Top 10 in due time. She put herself on the map in a massive way as a junior, averaging over 21 points a game for Shore as well as nearly averaging a double-double as a guard. Her level of aggression on the court is a trait that cannot be taught. It’s one that’s earned and develops over time. She’s a bulldog in the weight room and in training and just dazzles on the floor in-game.
No. 12: Ally Sweeney Ally Sweeney 5'8" | SG Sparta | 2023 State NJ – 5-8 SG, Sparta
Sweeney is a really well-rounded guard that does the little things well. She’s not just focused on scoring, rather, working on her rebounding, defense, passing, things of that sort. You’re looking at one of the best passers in the state in Sweeney, a big reason why she’s gotten noticed this summer. The biggest point of her game that we’ve seen major development in is her three-point shooting, which truly has added that extra dimension she’s needed for utter domination.
No. 13: Niyell McCargo Niyell McCargo SG North Brunswick | 2023 State NJ – SG, North Brunswick
McCargo could very well see her name in the Top 10 at some point this season because wow, she has been nothing short of incredible with North Brunswick. Her consistency across the board, from offense-to-defense, perimeter-to-interior, it speaks volumes about her overall game. McCargo might be listed as a shooting guard, but she’s one of the most versatile 2023 prospects in New Jersey and will play just about any position needed of her to play. Watch out because her senior season is going to be a massive one.
No. 14: Kassidy Thompson Kassidy Thompson 5'9" | SG Camden Catholic | 2023 State NJ – 5-10 SG, Camden Catholic
Thompson made the right switch to Camden Catholic to continue her high school career as she’s blossomed into a top-tier shooting guard that looks and plays with confidence on the floor. It’s impressive how great of a pure scorer she’s been, someone who’s flirted with 20-point averages her past two high school seasons. The AAU scene has seen her shoot the lights out as she’s continued to show out from three while driving in hard, finishing tough and getting to the foul line. Her formula for success is physicality and finesse, both of which she excels in tremendously.
No. 15: Nir Nir Cherry-Montague Nir Nir Cherry-Montague 6'6" | PF Atlantic City | 2023 State NJ – 6-4 PF, Atlantic City
Cherry-Montague is arguably the most intriguing prospect in New Jersey because of her 6-4 frame and the raw potential she has on the floor. You cannot teach height and with Cherry-Montague, success has definitely come in recent months. She averaged 3.5 blocks a game as a junior for Atlantic City and is expected to eclipse that, putting up a double-double average with ease. Don’t look now because this NJ Sparks product can rise up from the wing as well and shoot well from distance. That just adds to the lure surrounding her.
