Continue Reading(Up from No. 85) Bradwell Institute burst into statewide relevancy with a 22-6 record and Elite 8 trip behind the play of sparkplug Taniyah Bowman Taniyah Bowman 5’2″ | PG Bradwell Institute | 2023 State GA . The high-octane scorer averaged 15.1 points per game after netting 20.9 as a sophomore. Bowman does a great job attacking the rim. She plays at a quick tempo and is an effective defender and aggressive rebounder for her size. Continuing to develop a three-point shot will be key for the soccer standout.
(Up from No. 77) The diminutive size of Niya Moon Niya Moon 5’3″ | CG Elbert County | 2023 State GA will likely hinder her recruitment, but she has proven to be a big-game player and a lights out shooter. Moon plays at 100 miles per hour on defense, flying around the floor, serving as a gnat of an on-ball defender. She routinely frustrates opponents and can unleash a barrage of threes as well as anyone in the state when she’s locked in.
(Up from No. 108) Speed and playmaking are hallmarks of Veronaye Charlton Veronaye Charlton 5’4″ | PG Norcross | 2023 State GA ‘s game. She averaged 16.5 points, 6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 3 steals as a junior. A bit undersized at guard, Charlton is lightning in transition as she attacks the basket and sees the floor. She looked good playing alongside FBC Legacy, serving as an engine for the team.
(Up from No. 100) Health scares aside, it has been great to see Jamiah Gregory Jamiah Gregory 5’9″ | CG Kell | 2023 State GA back on the floor full-time. She has transition over to becoming more of a primary ball handler over the course of her career. Still an impressive leaper, Jamiah uses her athleticism to turn corners and get downhill. She’s a good rebounder and has value defensively.
(Up from No. 96) Fedd had a strong July, slashing to the rim and showing an ability to hit the pull-up jumper. Chassidy has good length on the perimeter and upside on defense. Continuing to extend her range will behoove her long term.
(Up from No. 148) Hiram has produced plenty of long, athletic wings in recent memory. Kalisha Phillips Kalisha Phillips 5’11” | SF Hiram | 2023 State GA enjoyed a breakout junior season averaging 10.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.8 blocks. Kalisha does her work in the paint. She scores as a slasher, on dump offs and put backs. Her length and energy cause her to be a game-altering presence on defense. She has great switchablity and the foot speed to guard 1-5.
