With that being said, let’s take a look at some of these big time high school point guards in the Asbury Park region.
Zoe Brooks Zoe Brooks 5'8" | CG St. John Vianney | 2023 State NJ – 5-10, St. John Vianney (2023)
To include the top point guards in the area and not include the future NC State superstar in Brooks is doing a disservice to New Jersey basketball. If you haven’t gotten a chance to watch this rising senior play, go to Holmdel this year and watch her ball out for the Lady Lancers. She’s one of the best ball-handlers we’ve ever seen, putting players on skates and gliding across the court it seems. She’s the real deal and then some and we’re lucky to get another year of her at SJV this season.
Rylee Drahos Rylee Drahos 5'7" | CG Shore | 2023 State NJ – 5-8, Shore (2023)
Drahos shot up our rankings last season after arguably having one of the best seasons by any player in the history of Shore Regional girls basketball. She was the superstar of that team and put the team on her back in many occasions. She’s an incredible scorer, creative and determined to find a way to score in some capacity. Drahos sees the court so well and mixes up what she wants to do in order to keep other players on their toes. If what she did as a junior was her breakout season, her senior season will be must-watch basketball.
Hope Masonius Hope Masonius 5'9" | PG Manasquan | 2024 State NJ – 5-9, Manasquan (2024)
The returning star at Manasquan, Masonius will be the go-to playmaker on this team this season. She’s been nothing short of spectacular so far and watching her play for Philly Rise on the AAU circuit showcases her skillset even better. She’s a shooter, a scorer, a passer, a player with an aggressive play style who owns it and produces from it. Masonius embodies what it means to be an all-around guard and she’s really done a great job at making sure every part of her game is as great as it can be. That makes her dangerous in so many ways a team just isn’t equipped to beat her.
Gabriella Ross Gabriella Ross 5'7" | SG Donovan Catholic | 2023 State NJ – Donovan Catholic (2023)
If you’re looking for a pure scorer, it doesn’t get much better than Ross, who is easily one of the top prospects in that category in New Jersey. What a talented offensive player she’s become with Donovan Catholic, averaging a career-high 16.7 points per game as a junior. She’s able to beat you in so many ways offensively: on-ball, off-ball, driving to the lane, a quick foul line jumper, three from the wing, three in transition, Ross just does it all and then some.
Devyn Quigley Devyn Quigley 5'10" | SG Manchester Township | 2024 State NJ – 5-10, Manchester Township (2024)
With Amyah Bray and Myah Hourigan both graduating in the spring, this is now Quigley’s show exclusively. That means the shooting guard will become a combo guard and much more of a point guard this season, showing how she’ll be able to adapt to a new position on the floor. What an incredible player Quigley has become in just two seasons with Manchester Township, joining an exclusive list of players in NJ who averaged over 20 points a game last season. Just absolute incredible basketball we’re seeing out of her and the superstars from Manchester Township just continue.
