It might be one of the deepest classes in the state, with many players already catching college coaches eye. Here’s five guards in the class of 2025 toy should know going into the season.
Grace Hintz
Grace Hintz
Grace had a phenomenal freshman year last season. She helped lead Lynden Christian, along side 2022 graduate Libby Stump, to the 1A state title where they defeated fellow Whatcom County team, Nooksack Valley. As a freshman, Grace showed the ability to score at all 3 levels on the court. She contains her dribble extremely well when driving to the hoop, being able to finish with either hand too. Her transition game is elite as she can find her teammates, drive to the bucket, or stop on a dime for the easy mid-range shot. Her ball handling might be the best in the class, she keeps the ball close to her body well. Her crossover was a big factor in her game last year, creating a lot of space for her. She’s hoping to help lead the Lyncs to back-to-back state titles.
Amanda is very active on the defensive side. When watching her film, her defense definitely caught my eye right away. She gets her hands involved in the passing lanes frequently and is a good on-ball defender, poking the ball out many times. Her intensity on defense is always shown, as she isn’t afraid to guard anyone at all, even if they are a half a foot taller. Her transition game is good as well, she can finish at the rim or give her teammates an easy bounce pass for the open basket.
Kierra Thompson
Kierra Thompson
Keirra is a playmaker on both sides of the ball. She can read opposing teams defenses very well, and has the ability to sneak any pass into any spot she wants. She is a fantastic floor general on offense, always looking for her teammates first. She can sink the deep shot with ease, especially when open. Thompson’s release is fast, forcing her defenders to stay close to her at all times. She excels off the pick and roll as she’s able to read the defense entirely while maintaining control of the ball and, she rarely makes the wrong decision.
