The showcase started with a brief dynamic warm up then players were split up into groups for stations. Once players were split up into groups they competed in a series of competitive drills and progressed to 3 on 3 and eventually 5 on 5 games. The players listed below stood out and made an impact on the court.
Dessie McCarty Dessie McCarty 6'2" | C Mt. Vernon | 2024 State AR | F / 6-2 | Mt Vernon Ebola HS | 2024
Dessie is a versatile post player that has potential to work inside and out. The first thing that stands out is her confidence to shoot the ball. She has NBA range and will hit shots consistently. In the 3v3 tournament her shooting ability was on full display, hitting big shot after big shot against tough competition. She can handle the ball pretty good for her size and uses her body when driving to get to the basket. When she gets in the paint she is either scoring against the slower defender or uses her post-game to attack the smaller player. She competes and communicates like a leader should and show some valuable qualities and characteristics that many college coaches would want in their program.
Taleigha Ealy Taleigha Ealy 6'0" | C Russellville | 2024 State AR | F / 6-0 | Russellville HS | 2024
Taleigha is a solid forward that works hard in the paint and has the potential to be a strong post presence. She uses her body to seal her defender and initiates contact under control to gain the advantage. She towers over players and uses her length to grab rebounds and protect the paint defensively. She has good footwork and knows how to mix it up in the paint and maneuvers around opponents. She is also a willing passer with a good sense of when to pass to her teammates and when to go to work. She has good hands and a soft touch around the basket and I like her game.
Aubrey Evans Aubrey Evans 5'11" | PF Bigelow | 2023 State AR | F / 5-11 | Bigelow HS | 2023
Aubrey is an aggressive defensive player that will work hard on consecutive possessions. She will fight for the rebound and dive on the floor for loose balls. She is a scrappy player with quick instincts that knows where the ball is at all times and usually wins the loose ball battle. She doesn’t waste opportunities, and most 50/50 balls went in her favor. She will push the ball in the open floor, is a willing passer, and finishes well. Defensively she uses her length to be a pest and get steals, deflections, and more. If you are looking for a player that works hard and brings competitive energy, Aubrey is your girl.
Logan Young Logan Young 5'9" | SF Dover | 2025 State AR | F / 5-9 | Dover HS | 2025
Logan is an athletic guard that can match up with multiple positions. She handles the ball and can also set screens as well as have a presence in the paint. She runs the floor to get easy buckets in transition and will slash in the lane for more buckets. She has a solid mid-range jumper and is effective driving to the basket. Logan has quick hands, quick feet, and uses them all to rebound at a high level. Defensively she has quick instincts, plays the passing lane, and rotates really good on the backside. Her steals turn into fast break points and her athleticism stands out. She works hard and makes a big impact every moment she is on the court.
Kaiya Mccoy Kaiya Mccoy 5'2" | PG Springdale | 2026 AR | G / 5-2 | Springdale HS | 2026
Kaiya is a dynamic point guard that commands respect from opponents and teammates. Every play ran through her and she has a strong ability to control the pace of the game. When the defense plays too close, she explodes into the lane and finds the high-percentage shot for herself or an open teammate. When the defense backed off because of her quick first-step, she has NBA range and shoots with supreme confidence. Defensively, she brings a ton of energy and plays to win. When pressuring the ball, she works extremely hard and her effort never waivers. Kaiya is fun to watch and displays all the qualities you look for in a point guard.
