We’re back to talking about the 2023 class and let’s crack into the Top 100 in this article, starting with the No. 100-96 rising seniors in the state.
No. 100: Casey Prior Casey Prior 5'7" | PG Red Bank Catholic | 2023 State NJ – 5-7 PG, Red Bank Catholic
Prior is an interesting player and someone who is one of the better shooters in the state and especially the Shore Conference. Knocking down 50 threes in less than 30 games is difficult and she’s really improved on her three-point shooting from season-to-season. As RBC’s main point guard going into her senior season, her presence from beyond the arc will be felt immensely and if she can continue to crash the lane more, she’s going to be very successful.
No. 99: Giada Palmieri Giada Palmieri 5'11" | SG Hammonton | 2023 State NJ – 5-11 SG, Hammonton
Palmieri had herself an immensely successful junior year basically out of nowhere for Hammonton, averaging in double-figures on offense and showcasing a great ability to score in basically any situation on that side of the court. Being a taller shooting guard, that makes her a more versatile player to haul in rebounds, get more blocks and be a greater help on the defensive side of the ball. She has great potential to continue to round out her game as a senior.
No. 98: Erica Stolker Erica Stolker 5'6" | SG Holmdel | 2023 State NJ – 5-6 SG, Holmdel
Holmdel has a number of great players on its roster currently, but none might be a better shooter than Stolker, who made her living from the three-point line last season. She’s nearly unguardable in catch-and-shoot situations and thrives off big moments, of which she got plenty playing for Holmdel. An excellent defender and up-and-coming passer, Stolker has a high ceiling above her and plenty of time to reach it.
No. 97: Carly Murphy Carly Murphy 5'10" | SF Wildwood Catholic | 2023 State NJ – 5-10 SF, Wildwood Catholic
Murphy knows how to get herself involved on both sides of the floor and has really improved as a rebounder and interior defender for Wildwood Catholic as a junior. Her offense is a balanced mix of inside and outside shooting, but having the ability to knock down three-pointers with consistency adds that extra dimension to her game, that extra edge overall. WC has some studs returning to the roster this season, and Murphy will benefit greatly off that.
No. 96: Maddie Branigan Maddie Branigan 6'0" | PF St. Dominic | 2023 State NJ – 6-0 PF, St. Dominic
Branigan missed the entire 2021-22 season, but in her first two seasons with St. Dominic, this forward thrived and had immense success, averaging nearly 15.5 points per game as well as just under 10 rebounds a game. We’ll see how well she’s able to do once she returns to the court as a senior, but having that level of dominance back on the post will be massive for St. Dominic. Whether she’s able to keep up that level of consistency is something to keep an eye on in the fall/winter.
