Texas is HUGE and “talent is everywhere” and me being the FIRST person to cover Texas on a NATIONAL level, over a decade ago, I try and overemphasize I could care less about stats as well as videos because I know where the bar has been set and that’s how I judge/evaluate. My daughter had over 100 D1 offers, more than many shoe teams combined so I kind of got this, especially since I’ve helped hundreds if not thousands play at the next level so these players showed several things that changed the scope
Aaliyah Scott Aaliyah Scott 5'6" | PG Lewisville | 2024 State TX -5’4 PG (Lewisville) [2024]
Scott tickled me after I told her I tweeted “I don’t know if she can sing but she’s played different tunes on the court all day” and she responded, “I can sing too” and that dropped the mic. Well, a lot of things were dropped, like the numerous dimes she had, with blistering passes and her “no-looks” JUST DID IT for me. She also “talked on the court” and being vocal deserves a #THRO WBA CK and fitting GAMECHANGER. She understands how to run a team, control the tempo, and scored both off the dribble and with the pull-up jumper
Mady Shield Mady Shield 5'5" Throckmorton | 2024 TX -5’5 CG (Throckmorton) [2024]
Shield didn’t take a lot of time to show she understood how to change the momentum of games. Her “on the ball” defense got her some steals initially yet she used her athleticism on both ends. She attacked the basket using a deceptive first step, with either hand, and finished the same way, with either hand, but she also showed the jumper. Her mid to long-range was a hit, and so was her “stop and pop” in transition
Lily Cunningham Lily Cunningham 5'9" | SG Throckmorton | 2024 TX -5’9 SG/SF (Throckmorton) [2024]
Cunnigham brought back some Happy Days of yesteryear as I drop the #THRO WBA CK hashtag because she plays within herself and understands how to get hers “in the flow”. She did a very good job creating her shot under pressure and watching her drop it after elevating over the defender was nice. She also finished off the dribble, after contact, with either hand. Solid court vision, did I mention she dropped the long ball, well she did and she and Shield are high school teammates, oh my
Bella Grace Aguero Bella Grace Aguero 5'5" | PG Gonzales | 2025 TX -5’5 CG (Gonzales) [2025]
Aguero was one of the club season’s biggest hits and not just because she HIT some of the BIGGEST shots under pressure. Well, she did it at the event too, when they needed a big basket, she nailed it and did it again and again. She can drop the long ball, she can drop the midrange and she scores off the dribble by setting the defender up nicely. She thinks the game and lets it come to her but her mindset always makes me smile
Ally Ihler Ally Ihler 6'1" | SG Salado | 2025 State TX – 6’1 SG (Salado) [2025]
Ihler is one of those players that SOLD me a couple of years ago. She’s a big guard that can flat-out shoot, I LOVE THAT, but more importantly, so do college coaches and they offer scholarships. She’s long and athletic, that’s the base, and watching her effortlessly elevate to get her shot off makes me smile because the jumper works from everywhere on the court and she hit some shots that changed how things were going several times. Good timing, she rebounds and she played solid defense
