These kids all have one trait in particular that I think will play well in the eyes of college coaches and get them onto the floor for extended stretches in high school.
Rowan Klesmit
I love guards who take care of the ball. That’s what Klesmit does well. She has a lot of poise and handles pressure extremely well at her age. The other thing that Klesmit brings is a competitive nature. Klesmit is the kind of kid who doesn’t only want to win games, which she does, but she also wants to win every possession. Although she’s a small guard, she fights for rebounds and isn’t afraid to do all the little things to give her team the best chance to win.
Lauren Strifling Lauren Strifling 5'11" | PF Homestead | 2025 State WI
The Homestead forward is a skilled kid who can excel all over the floor. Strifling has a solid shot and can space the floor to the 3-point line. The Highlander also brings versatility to the front court. She can shoot the ball, and she has juice off the dribble. Now and again, she’ll make a catch on the perimeter and make a two-dribble move to the basket that catches you off guard. In my opinion, the best part about her game is how aggressive she is on the boards. She’s a scrappy kid that coaches will love.
The Madison La Follette guard is as creative as anyone in Appleton on Sunday. However, something about her will always stand out to me more than her scoring, and that’s her rebounding. She may be a 5-foot-8 or 5-foot-9 wing, but she’s one of the best rebounders in the state. Last season, there were back-to-back games where she grabbed 19 and 17 rebounds in a talented Big Eight Conference. Kids like West will always find a way to succeed. I’m confident in that.
Jasmine Howard Jasmine Howard 5'5" | PG Rufus King | 2024 WI
I thought Howard was eye-catching. She is a quick guard that gets by her initial defender more often than not. Her shot looked better than a few months ago, but I thought her competitiveness was on display. I lost track of how many times I saw one of her teammates miss a shot, only to see 5-foot-5 Jasmine Howard Jasmine Howard 5'5" | PG Rufus King | 2024 WI rise and grab an offensive rebound. Things like that will resonate with coaches at the next level more than raw scoring. I thought she was outstanding.
