Kiaraly Cabrera Kiaraly Cabrera 5'7" | CG Naples Community School | 2023 State FL /2023 / 5’6 PG / Community School of Naples
Cabrera (cover photo) was one of the best and most skilled guards in the building at the PGH Expo. Her court vision, ball handling, and ability to navigate on the court were a step above most. Cabrera was not short of confidence and you could see her confidence level in everything that she did on the court. Cabrera’s offense was a site to see. She can shoot from anywhere on the court and is not afraid to get to the basket. Cabrera also did a job of drawing fouls. She really attacks the defense in transition and loves to put the defense in a quandary in two-on-one opportunities. Cabrera plays with confidence, grit, and a flare about herself. She is also a competitor on the defensive end and will stick her nose in and play aggressive defense.
Aniya Hall-Mcdowell Aniya Hall-Mcdowell 5'3" | PG Andrew Jackson | 2023 State FL / 2023 / 5’3 G Andrew Jackson
Hall-McDowell is a competitor and that competitive spirit was prevalent all day long at Expo 250. She was definitely getting to the rim and creating for herself and also creating for her teammates. She was very impressive in distributing the ball during the Expo. Hall McDowell was in point guard mode and threw darts to her post players all day long. Defensively, Hall-McDowell brought the energy. She is an in-your-face defender who can harass the ball handler and force them to their weaker hand. She picked a few pockets during the Expo and initiated a few fastbreaks of the steals. Hall-McDowell was definitely a standout and showed some versatility to her game, by distributing the ball to her open players and looking less for her own shots. Hall-McDowell really showed some leadership on the floor and will look to do the same thing at Andrew Jackson High school this upcoming season.
Breanna Evans Breanna Evans 5'7" | PG Gainesville | 2023 State FL / 2023 / 5’7 G, SF / Gainesville High School
Evans did a good job of attacking the rim. e gets downhill in a hurry and has a quick first step to the basket. Evans is a scorer and she looks to get into the paint and score. She is very efficient when she gets in the lane and she can score from a variety of angles. Evans has a nice array of shots to put the ball in the basket: the layup, the floater, and the mid-range are her go-to moves. She can also shoot it from the outside as well. Evans is a nice size guard and physical enough to play inside against the forwards. She is an excellent rebounder from the guard position and is very good at getting offensive put backs.
Janay Demitt / 5’5 PG / Lake Howell
Demmitt is a smooth player and plays with the ball in her hand. She is really a smooth player and has a very nice float game. Demmitt has good dribbling skills and can get to the goal with a quick step and shiftiness. She has very good court vision and made some sweet passes to the post players. She made one bounce pass from the freethrow line to a cutting player that was a thing of beauty.
Paris Allen Paris Allen 5'2" | PG Deltona | 2023 State FL 2023 / 5’3 SG / Deltona.
The one thing that separated Allen from a lot of the prospects in the building was her speed and used it on both ends of the court. Defensively, she really has some good on-ball defensive skills. She was guarding some of the better ball handlers in the building and was making it tough on them. Her foot speed was impressive and no one was getting by her without some major effort. On pick and roll, she was defending it by going under the screen and beating the offensive player to the spot. Offensively, she got to the rim in a hurry and made some very nice contested layups.
Paetyn Miller Paetyn Miller 5'6" | CG Ridgeview | 2023 State FL / 2023 / 5’6 PG / Ridgeview
Miller did some nice things on the court at the Expo. For a change, Miller got the chance to play at the shooting guard spot, and she looked natural at it. At Ridgeview, Miller is the primary ball handler and for most of her high school career, she has had to run the point exclusively. Playing at the shooting guard position, Miller showed that she could shoot off of the catch as well as the dribble. Miller knocked down several threes on the day. She was also really aggressive going to the rim in transition and in set offense. She made some incredible layups on the break. When she didn’t convert the layup, Miller drew fouls and got to the freethrow line.
