In the Capital city area you can find a little bit of everything there’s quality at the top but the quantity isn’t so deep. On this list you’ll find a nice mixture of young and old talent and some length as well. These five kids will all help their respective programs to wins and possibly state championships. A kid who’s stock rose tremendously in July while playing with her Louisiana United Club team, Whitney’s ceiling is super high clearly the best pure big in the Capital City area the ’24 big is great at doing her work early and winning her spots in the post. Great length and a frame that will get stronger, her timing and shot blocking ability are next level! She favors finishing over her left shoulder once she’s able to go both ways she’d be virtually unstoppable on the block. But this year the 1st team all-district selectee from a year ago will most definitely have to carry her Liberty High Lady Patriots team who will be in a new district with the likes of Scotlandville and Zachary!
She hasn’t graduated yet is the question asked a lot around the Capital Area about the reigning District 4-5A MVP, 1st team 5a All – State and the Baton Rouge Metro area Most Outstanding player in Travis who averaged 14.8 points per game. She also contributed 4.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.1 steals in her junior campaign as she lead the Lady Wildcats to a state semifinal appearance. The recent Loyola New Orleans commit should have another All- State caliber season with only one thing left to do as a high school basketball player and that’s win a state championship!

can do just that! Selected as the Louisiana division IV state championship game’s Most Outstanding Player and 1st team All-State finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds and five steals in the final game. A big guard who can play either position is coming off of a big summer where she received a few division 1 offers will be back with a loaded young Southern Lab squad who will look to repeat as State Champions!
Lets just say if Arionna’s summer caries over into her sophomore season it will be a special one for the class of 2025 wing from Walker High School. Coming off of a solid freshman season Miss Patterson will be asked to do more for this years version of the Lady Cats. The 6 foot wing who’s capable of going on the block and posting up big’s or guards or grabbing a board and starting the break and finishing it herself should be one of the leading bucket getters for the Lady Cats. Over the summer she picked up multiple division 1 offers due to her play. Her sophomore year could be her breakout year!
Highlights
For the second straight year, Thornton was named the District 5-5A MVP while also being named 5A All-State honorable mention in her junior season. The 5’11 lefty can do a little bit of everything on the court and this year in her senior season her total game should be on full display. Being in a new district with her Lady Gators squad Deniya will be the focal point of the opposing teams defense every night. A kid that can score the ball in bunches and in a variety of different ways look for Deniya to be a walking double-double this year in her last ride as a Lady Gator!
