Sydney is the definition of a point guard prospect, who unselfishly and willingly creates looks for her teammates every time down the court. She is a maestro in the half court, creating opportunities out of the pick and roll or her drive and kick action, setting up her teammates every time down. Where she is extremely effective is how well she runs the floor as the focal point of their fast break offense, if she has a teammate running with her, the defense is in trouble every time down. She uses a series of crossovers, head fakes and jab steps to keep her opponent’s off balance, and how well she is able to chain these together on the fast break, and then make a nice pass out of it was very impressive. Her natural point guard instincts take over every time she has the ball in her hands, she takes pride in how she can create opportunities for anyone on the floor!
#19 Peyton Landry Peyton Landry 5'5" | PG Kennedale | 2023 State TX 2023 5’5 Kennedale High School
Peyton is a lightning quick point guard who beats everyone up the court, even when she has the ball in her hands. Her ability to push the tempo and create opportunities for her teammates just by keeping the defense on its heels was very fun to watch. Her opponent’s are very cautious of her blazing speed every time she has the ball in her hands and looks to turn the corner on her on ball defender. The consistency she showed by shifting her opponent and getting to the rim was very fun to watch, and when she kept her head up she was able to find shooters on the backside, or cutting teammates slipping behind their defender who had now turned to keep an eye on Peyton! Landry’s quickness and blazing speed with the ball is for sure going to be an asset at the next level…
#18 Destiny Jones Destiny Jones 5'7" | CG John Paul II | 2023 State TX 2023 5’7 John Paul II High School
Destiny is a strong team defender who can fit into any offensive or defensive scheme with how hard she plays, her awareness to come over as a help defender and her consistency down low. I was very impressed with how well she was able to attack weak ball handlers, and she came over at just the right time to poke the ball away from them after they had turned all of their attention into getting away from Jones’ teammate! She is the definition of a glue gal type prospect with her intensity on the defensive end of the court, and the consistency she displayed on offense. I would like to see her continue to develop her shot from the outside, especially off the bounce.
#17 Torie Sevier Torie Sevier 6'4" | PF Braswell | 2023 State TX 2023 6’1 Braswell High School
Torie is another do-it-all prospect who can lock you up on the defensive end of the court, protect the rim by turning away shots by her length or use it to harass ball handlers and force them into turnovers! She is athletic and can play out of the high post, put the ball on the floor and attack the rim with consistency. I was very impressed by her quickness, especially out of the triple threat and off the catch. She used a series of head fakes to manipulate her on ball defender, especially out of the high post, clearing the way for her to attack the rim or opening up a teammate on the weak side. I loved her patience with the ball, even with the defense collapsing on her down low.
#16 Raimi McCrary Raimi McCrary 6'0" | PF Allen | 2023 State TX 2023 6’1 Allen High School
Raimi is the definition of a point forward, someone who can put the ball on the floor and create opportunities for her teammates off of her aggressiveness. Her length and intensity on the court was very impressive, and she used it to attack weak ball handlers and force them to turn it over. She attacked bigger forwards after they collected rebounds, quickly snatching the ball back and going up strong down low. Her length allows her to play the passing lanes and close the gap on space every time they try to make a simple pass. She has a real nose for the ball, and baits her opponents into bad passes, constantly reads their eyes and always seems to know where they want to go with the ball. Her effectiveness on he defensive end allows her to have plenty of opportunities to show off her court awareness and push the tempo herself.
