The event featured some of the top high school teams from California, Nevada and Arizona. I was able to attend the event on Sunday, Oct. 2 and I focused on the CA teams. Here’s a look at some additional standouts I saw.
1.
Kennedy Smith

– Etiwanda 2024
Smith was one of the most complete players at the event. She is a good post scorer. Strong footwork and is patient when getting post position. She seals off her defender and can finish with either hand. Nice touch around the rim. She can handle the ball on the break and has consistent range out to the three-point line. Good rebounder. Defensively, she protects the paint and she has the mobility to guard wings on the perimeter.
2. Shaena Brew – Mater Dei – 2025
Brew is a strong guard who may be on the shorter side but uses her strength to get paint touches. When she attacks the defense, she is able find open teammates and kick out to shooters. Handles the ball well as more of a shooting guard. Plays well in transition as the ball-handler and can finish at the basket. Can shoot the three-ball off the catch.
3.
Ava Uhrich

– Pinewood 2023
Uhrich is a true post player. She has good size and makes strong moves off the dribble from the mid-post area. She can draw contact at the rim and shoots free-throws at a solid clip. Moves without the ball making baseline cuts. Runs the floor well. She follows misses and does a good job crashing the glass. Defensively, she has the quickness and ability to stay in front of ball-handlers on the perimeter.
4. Nicole Panganiban – La Jolla Country Day 2024
Panganiban is a quick little guard. She has a strong slashing game and does a good job protecting the ball on her drives. She can draw contact at the rim and get to the free-throw line consistently. Her size isn’t an issue at all. She can create off the dribble and can hit the little pull-up jumper. Does a good job creating space to get her shot off. Good court vision and can find the open teammate in halfcourt sets.
