Shelby Wells Shelby Wells 5'9" | SF State NewE , 5’9 G – Peoples Academy Class of ’23
Shelby is someone who contributes all across the board. Wells can handle and create looks on offense, or play off the ball, moving well in and out of space. She can knock it down at all three-levels, especially off the catch, but her pull-up is coming on too. Defensively, Wells uses her length to bother ballhandlers without overplaying and battles for boards. She’s got coast-to-coast abilities, pushing it off of rebounds and converting those chances into easy buckets with drives and assists. Wells and company should put People’s Academy in the D3 final four mix.
Sakoya Sweeney Sakoya Sweeney 5'6" | CG Lake Region | 2023 State NewE , 5’7 G – Lake Region High School Class of ’23
Sakoya is one of the top PG’s in the D3/D4 Winter Primer and it’s clear why. She has the wit and strength to keep defenders on her hip, getting downhill easily with clean hesitations and crossovers, making plays with dishes down low and kick-outs to shooters. Furthermore, she can score at all three levels with crafty lay ups and floaters as well as a nice pull up game. Defensively, Sweeney draws from her own offensive repertoire and applies that knowledge to her defense, cutting off driving lanes, forcing players to their weak hand and communicating well. Sweeney is an all-around player who can do a little of everything.
Ella Perreault, 5’10 W – White River Valley High School Class of ’23
Combine Ella’s long wingspan with her impressive motor and you’ve got an absolute hawk on the court. Perreault is someone who gets themselves into every play, whether that’s getting into a ball screen and rolling hard, fighting for 50/50 balls, or pressuring the ball in the backcourt, Ella never runs out of gas. She finishes well inside and runs lanes well in transition. Perreault is the type of player who greases the gears and makes others around her better.
Sidney Herrington, 6’0 G/W – Arlington High School Class of ’24
Sidney has huge upside and is one of my favorite prospects out of the D3/D4 Winter Primer. Herrington has a frame that’s both athletic and strong, providing her the ability to utilize quickness on the wing and strength inside amongst the trees. Sidney can handle the ball like a guard, attacking the rim in transition and facilitating in the halfcourt, or will mix it up inside with post moves and second chance points. Defensively, she’s a showstopper. Sidney can lock up at nearly every position, she rebounds like a forward, and can affect the game in every which way. Sidney is a must-see.
Caitlyn Davison, 5’9 G – Hazen High School Class of ’24
Caitlyn is someone who can fit into many roles. I’ve seen her in high-usage positions, facilitating and creating looks for herself by attacking the rim and making plays. I’ve also seen her play off-ball, and she can thrive as a second or third option, moving well into space and knocking down catch-and-shoot looks. Davison rebounds well for her size and pushes well in transition, attacking the rim without over-committing. Defensively solid, a communicator, and a savvy help defender, Caitlyn holds it down. Moreover, Davison’s demeanor is calm, cool, and collected, displaying her measured leadership on the floor.
Sydney Perry, 6’0 F – Windsor High School Class of ’24
Perry is without a doubt the strongest forward in the D3/D4 Winter Primer. Sydney controls the paint with sturdy defense, challenging shots with her strength and length, disrupting interior passes, and boxing hard to clear the glass. Her outlets are on point, sparking the fastbreak and she runs lanes hard to the rim, ready for over-the-top passes for easy lay ups. Offensively, Sydney can through defenders with over the shoulder hook shots, counters via savvy footwork, and short-range jumpers. Sydney is due for a breakout season.
Addison Cadwell, 5’9 G – Thetford Academy Class of ’24
Addison balled out at the Slate Valley Showcase, displaying the ability to affect the game in myriad ways. Cadwell cleans the boards impressively for her size and is likely to breakout of the pack and create fastbreak opportunities. She attacks the rim with savvy and control and is capable of pulling up in the short to mid-range, forcing the defense to step out or leave their assignment down low. Defensively, Addison can defend inside and out, allowing her to switch out onto numerous positions. Cadwell is a force on both ends.
