Brooke is a special guard prospect who can get it done on the perimeter, or from the mid-range. Where I see the most promise in her game is her control out of the triple threat as well as the pick and roll. She is elite out of the triple threat and can create a look herself by manipulating her defender with a jab step or an explosive dribble towards the paint. The attention she draws allows her to be an elite weapon out of the pick and roll, punishing the defense from beyond if you go under the screen and cheat off of her, or firing a picture perfect pass to her rolling teammate or a shooter on the back side. Her shooting ability really opens up the floor for her and her teammates and puts a ton of pressure on the defense to contest every shot opportunity she has on the outside, and opens up her teammates to drive and cut on the weak side of the play for easy looks at the rim.
Charis Phoenix Charis Phoenix 5'7" Jordan | 2023 TX 2023 5’8 Jordan High School
Charis is an aware point guard who thrives at creating offense for her teammates and creating separation with some high level crossovers and step backs to find space. I was very impressed with her touch on her shot in the paint as well as the touch she displayed on full court passes that hit her teammates in stride. Her overall feel for the game and her basketball IQ were on full display as she dominated on both ends of the court. Where she really makes a mark on the game is her ability to turn defense into offense. Her awareness allows her to play the passing lanes at a very high level and jump passes and race the other way for easy offense.
Elizabeth Walton Elizabeth Walton 5'7" | PG The Village | 2023 State TX 2023 5’7 Village School
Elizabeth might be one of the most aggressive guards in Houston who thrives off of getting to the rim, playing through contact and creating separation with her handle. Her ability to take what the defense gave her, and punish the defense from all three levels is incredibly special. was blown away with the separation she created with a live dribble and the ease in which she finished at the rim. She finished through excessive contact, and even used some finesse to go up and under. She routinely knocked down shots at the free throw line and made the defense pay for when they fouled her. Her finishing is no where near the best part of her game however, she truly does a little bit of everything on both ends of the court. On the defensive end, her head is always moving around to map out where all of her opponents are on the court. She played the passing lanes at a very high level and baited her opponent into some lazy passes and easy turnovers. I also loved watching her fight on the glass, for her position she was one of the best rebounders in attendance at the guard spot. She is not afraid to do the dirty work on the court, and made her opponents work for every chance down low.
Rebecca Kelley 2023 5’8 Homeschool
Rebecca is a patient player who sees the floor well and always seems to make the right reads and extra passes to set up her teammates well within the half court. I was very impressed by her ability to play alongside another player who wanted to live in the paint, and the willingness she had to play outside in when on the court at the same time as her. She can operate with a live dribble or out of the triple threat on the elbows and make the right pass. She has a great two man game with her other big man, Kelley is good at waiting for her to seal off her opponent before passing the ball into the post and allowing her to work.I was very impressed with the ease in which she scored from the mid-range off the bounce. She is calm with a live dribble and always seems to make the right basketball play every time down the court.
Leandria Holmes 2023 5’10 Klein Forest High School
Leandria is a high level guard who plays on both ends of the court and lived on the fast break after picking passes in the passing lane or rebounding the ball. She is aware on the break and made the right reads and constantly created for her teammates and found them with crisp passes that hit them in stride. In the half court, she constantly found her teammates and created shot opportunities for them. She displayed an ability to knock down shots off the dribble from beyond the arc. She constantly hit shots and was always a threat to score from the outside.
Malory Dougharty 2023 Evadale High School
Malory is a heads up player who always seems to make the right play whether that is the right pass or by moving without the basketball to manipulate the defense. Her ability to pass her teammates open in the full court is a real weapon and allows her teammates easy opportunities in the lane. She is an aggressive help defender who always seems to come over at the right moment to affect the play. She always comes screaming in on the weak side to affect the play by keeping her arms up and cutting off passes outside and forcing her opponent into a tough look.
