Continue ReadingThe X-Factor for the Mustangs was Zakerria Hall Zakerria Hall 6’2″ | C South Effingham | 2023 State GA . At 6-foot-2, Chestatee had no one close that could match her size and strength, with their tallest player being 5-foot-9. Hall had a quiet first half but wore down Chestatee in the second, scoring all 8 of her points and adding 16 rebounds and 3 blocks. Hall knew where her bread was buttered and didn’t play outside of herself. She anchored down on the block and moved in whenever a shot went up. She would earn second and third chances as she kept the ball high on rebounds. The lefty scored on three putbacks. Zakerria was a main reason why Chestatee struggled to get easy looks at the basket. She did a great job walling up and blocking shots without fouling.
Shiasia House
Shiasia House
The high post was home to House. Shiasia killed the defense with her mid-range jumper, netting three to help space the floor. House occasionally would put the ball on the floor and attack the rim. It felt like whenever a possession was about to be squandered, with the shot clock dwindling the ball would find House and she would sink a shot. She finished with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block.
A bruising post presence, it was actually Jacquelyn Buchanan Jacquelyn Buchanan 5’10” | PF Dougherty | 2023 State GA ‘s finesse game which shined on Tuesday. Buchanan knocked down a pair of mid-range jumpers in the first quarter before establishing herself on the block. Jacquelyn did a nice job running the floor as Jatiana Chambers Jatiana Chambers 5’1″ | PG Dougherty | 2025 State GA was able to hit her in stride. Buchanan posted 13 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 1 block vs. Beach.
Charity caught my eye immediately with her length and springiness. Bellamy is a bit raw, but her physical tools are covetable. The wiry forward moves well and is active in the paint. She swats away shots and keeps possessions alive on the glass. Bellamy did most of her scoring on putbacks but she did have a nice turnaround jumper out of the post. Charity collected 11 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 5 blocks.
VicTorya Solomon
VicTorya Solomon
Solomon is a strong athlete with an impressive frame. She’s more of a rebounder and defender at this point of her career. VicTorya had a soft touch at the foul line going 4-4 and banked in a mid-range jumper. Solomon had 6 points, 15 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block. Her size and activity will cause problems in Region 3-3A.
