In the next few posts I’ll be diving into some of the top talent the state has to offer in the Class “B” division. In this article we will dive into the returning top scorers returning to the hardwood in 22-23′. let’s get after it.
Natalie Decoteau Natalie Decoteau 5'10" | SG St. John | 2023 State ND : St.Johns 2023: The returning Senior is is talented on the floor to say the least. She has a great vision of the court, finds her teammates with precision passing in transition, attacks the rim hard left or right handed, and has a very fluid pull-up jumper that can knock down shots mid-range or 3-pointers nightly . She’s coming into her final season averaging 22PPG, 10.4RPG, and 1.5BPG. She’s loaded wth talent and we can expecting nothing but another big year from her.
Morgan Leas: North Prairie 2023- Leas is another very skilled guard that can do a little bit of everything on the floor. Her ability to pull-up shots in transition, or creating space and getting herself open for a shot really stands out, not to mention when she let’s it fly she can connect. Needless to say, you don’t want to leave her open or she will make you pay. Aside from her shooting abilities, she has strong dribbling skills, and can fight through a defender to get to the rim for an easy soft touch off the glass. She’s returning averaging 22PPG, and looking to pick up her 4th All-District Selection in Region 4.
Ellie Braaten Ellie Braaten 5'3" | PG Westhope-Newburg | 2023 State ND : Westhope/Newburg 2023- A known “Baller” in North Dakota for all the right reasons, Braaten can flat out play, and is tough as nails. She comes into her 5th and final year averaging 21.5ppg, 9.7ppg, 162 steals and 145 assists and looking for her 3rd All-State Selection. There isn’t much she can’t do on the floor, crashing the lane, knocking down shots inside and out, or her keen eye for a quick pass to an open teammate in the lane, she is a true leader on the court, and makes plays happen. You can tell she has spent a ton of time refining all the skills she has in her bag, and it shows. She will be a key player for Weshope/Newburg this year, and expect big numbers from her!
