Continue ReadingEarly season rankings usually tend to hold no weight but two weeks in we have seen some very competitive basketball in the state of Louisiana. Some of the states top teams have bumped heads early in the season to get a good test or gauge on themselves. With Louisiana going to the SELECT/NON SELECT method we will have 5 divisions in each of those being Division 1 through 5. Lets take a look at Division 1 Select
1. Huntington
Kyndal Led the Lady Raiders to a few big wins at the Bttle on the Hardwood showcase in Shreveport to open up the season. The do it all class freshman dropped a 30 ball in one of her games as she continues to prove SIZE DOSEN’T MATTER.
2. Scotlandville
Helped her team get off to a 4-0 start while earning MVP honors at the East Baton Rouge Parish Tourney. Paired this year with McKinley transfer ’23 post Trinitee Whitaker to form a nice inside out combo for the lady Hornets who will be contenders for a state title!
3. Lafayette
The Lady Lions are off to a 2-0 start behind the Pg play of Kira Johnson Kira Johnson 5’7″ | PG Lafayette | 2025 State LA who seems to get better and better each time out. Also South Alabama commitment Chrysta Narcisse and Grace Paul combine to for a very nice big 3 for the Lady Lions.
Highlights
4. Warren Easton
Battle tested is what these Lady eagles will be. Led by senior guard Kameryn Washington Kameryn Washington 5’3″ | PG Warren Easton | 2023 State LA the Lady Eagles are 4-3 to start the early season as they took a trip to north Louisiana and faced the likes of Wossman, Parkway and Huntington and went 0-3 but that does not define who theses ladies will be come January.
5. John Curtis
Lose a few players, new coach but still the same old Curtis. Still young the addition of Imani Daniels to the fold to go along with returners Chikae Desdunes and Heaven Jordan are 3-1 so far on the season with there only loss coming out of state.
