Aja Pollard Aja Pollard 5'10" | SF Bartram Trail | 2023 State FL / 5’10 SG / Bartram Trail High School
Pollard closed out the week with a 31 point performance. The senior guard had it going on the inside and outside and that is her game. Pollard is one the most athletic players on the First Coast. She can shoot the long range shot, the midrange shot, and can get to the rim in a hurry. She can also get there with some serious elevation. Pollard is one of the top seniors on the First Coast. Look for similar performances this upcoming season.
Yakiya Milton Yakiya Milton 6'4" | PF Mandarin | 2024 FL / 6’4 SF / Mandarin
Milton really looked right at home in her first preseason game at Mandarin. The shooting chart shows a variety of shot attempts for the versatile senior. There were three point shots from the corner, wing, and top of key. Milton also scored on several penetrations to the basket. Finally, the Senior showed that she can bring the ball down the court off of the rebound and in press break situations. Defensively, Milton blocked about 4 shots. She played with a lot of freedom on the floor and looked very comfortable.
Paetyn Miller Paetyn Miller 5'6" | CG Ridgeview | 2023 State FL / 5’4 PG / Ridgeview
Miller (pictured above) really stood out in her performance last week. Her drives were very nice and she attacked with purpose and precision. Miller basically took what the defense gave her and did not force the issue. She shot the three ball well and had some nice pull up jumpers in the midrange area. Miller also did a good job of getting her teammates involved.
Sophia Rueppell Sophia Rueppell 5'9" | PG Bishop Kenny | 2023 State FL / 5’8 PG / Bishop Kenny
It was very apparent that Rueppell is the main option for Bishop Kenny this season. On the day before signing day Rueppell went out and showed why she is one of the top guards in the state of Florida. She knocked down several threes ( including one from half court) and did a good job of running the team at the point guard position. Rueppell is on a different level and next year she will be on the college level. Last week Rueppell signed her letter of intent to play for Kennesaw State.
Angelina Kouchis Angelina Kouchis 5'5" | SG Bartram Trail | 2023 State FL / 5’4 PG / Bartram
Kouchis is quickly putting the First Coast on notice with her stellar play from the point guard position. Kouchis, a transfer from the State of Alabama, is an aggressive attacker of the rim and she can shoot the three as well. She and Pollard led the way against a talented Jackson team and they will be a tough backcourt to contend with.
Jaida Griner / 5’10 SF / Orange Park
Griner was very impressive in the preseason and gives the Lady Raiders an additional scoring option and quality player. Griner is a versatile player who can score on the inside and outside and is a very competitive player. Defensively, she was able to cover on the inside and outside as well. She adds much needed experience and depth to the Lady Raiders team.
