The GRC campus is beautiful, and I always love going to the west side of the state. Not only is Grand Rapids home to some of the best basketball in the state, it is also home to my favorite soup shop: Uncle Cheetah’s. I was favored with sunshine, soup, and great hoops. The following kids balled out and stood out as kids that you hate to see on the opposing bench.
Rockford flat out has a squad, and Anna starred for her team. Actually, I would probably say that Anna won my MVP for the scrimmage, which is impressive considering the number of college commits at the event. She can defend multiple positions and play on or off the ball. She has high level fakes, making use of misdirection and head movement, and punishes helpside defenders with precision passing.
It took me five seconds to realize that Emma was the best player on her court. She has a calmness in handling pressure and doesn’t force anything on offense. She has a quick first step and uses her body to draw contact, while finishing at an above average clip. Her jumper is productive and has good form. She is a shifty defender that finds the way to pick pockets.
Highlights
Lydia Sall
Lydia Sall
Lydia and her twin sister Hannah make an opposing pair on the court as they both stand at least 6’2 and move like smaller players. I doubt that Lydia has much skin on her knees after diving for every loose ball. She is incredibly active in the press and uses her height to alter shots and passes, while avoiding fouls. She is an above average passer and can score multiple ways.
Harmony Laker

The sophomore had a coming out party against a perennial Division I power. Harmony showcased the ability to put the ball on the deck and the ability to post up. She is a matchup nightmare, especially with her willingness to create contact. She is active in passing lanes and on ball defense, while winning 50-50 balls. She showcased some nice passes-basically she checked every box.

Harmonie is a jet quick guard that can beat your best defender off the bounce with frightening ease. Good luck bringing taller help because she has the best floater I’ve seen in high school. She terrorizes ball handlers and makes connecting passes. This kid will put up a ton of points this year.
