The GRC campus is beautiful, and I always love going to the west side of the state. Not only is Grand Rapids home to some of the best basketball in the state, it is also home to my favorite soup shop: Uncle Cheetah’s. I was favored with sunshine, soup, and great hoops. The following kids caught my eye for being relentless on the court, where they left it all.
I’ve had a chance to watch Brooklyn play a couple of times now, and both times I came away impressed by her energy and grit. She is a relentless rebounder that never takes a play off. She showcased more an offensive game than I saw at PGH 250: shifty takes and a nice pull-up jumper. Regardless of what side of the ball, the kid is just going to make you work.
Jada Livingston

The senior is another kid that just works nonstop on both sides of the ball. Jada is a good positional defender and shoots passing lanes well. The part that I loved about her game is that she keeps balls alive for her teammates.
Last year, I got a chance to watch a lot of tape on Addison, so it was a treat to get to watch her in person. She has the ability to defend multiple positions and shoots passing lanes with abandon. She had a monster block on a much bigger player and spent the whole game covering the whole court on defense. She was a very physical player when pressured with the ball and had strong takes.

Pretty much any junior would have been happy having the performance Kyleira had on Wednesday; crazy thing is, the kid is a freshman. With her team battling a very aggressive and athletic East Kentwood team, Kyleira answered the call and kept BCC in the game with her intensity and strong takes. She unleashed a slick crossover that left a defender flummoxed.
Man, I loved watching Jaevyn play. It is cliche to say a kid plays like they’re starving, but she really does. She crashes boards and is willing to throw her body in harm’s way, and she smoothers people on defense. Jaevyn has super quick hands and has the relentlessness to track every loose ball on the court.
