Insider Exposure hosted a number of the top teams from all across Florida as well as all across the country. We took in some of the action at Bolles School. Here are some of the class of 2023 big guards and post players.
Class of 2023
Rusne Augustinaite Rusne Augustinaite 5'10" | CG Montverde Academy | 2023 State FL (Montverde Academy) – 6’0 Guard
This was the best I have seen Augustinaite play in the last three years since arriving at Montverde Academy. She is in great shape, has developed her overall skill set as a combo guard, improving her handle and shooting a higher percentage from 3. She is still a high volume outside shooter who can get hot in a hurry and change the momentum of the game knocking down 3s from the wing and baseline.
Cori Allen Cori Allen 5'10" | SG Montverde Academy | 2023 State FL (Montverde Academy) – 5’10 Guard
Allen played multiple guard spots handling the ball and playing off the ball. She was in excellent condition, playing a majority of the game. Always a strong, big guard, she was leaned out and appeared to be in really good shape. Allen handled the ball as the teams main point guard, distributing the ball well to scorers and used her body to attack off the dribble, absorbing and playing through contact.
Mjracle Sheppard Mjracle Sheppard 5'8" | CG Montverde Academy | 2023 State FL (Montverde Academy) – 5’10 Guard
Splitting point guard duties with Allen, Sheppard served as teams primary ball handler and was aggressive in pushing the ball in transition. She was a playmaker in the full court, helping Montverde Academy get out to a quick start and really setting the tone from the jump ball. Sheppard was effective both in the half court and in the full court and consistently played down hill, hunting the paint and creating scoring opportunities for her teammates.
Jordyn Griggs Jordyn Griggs 6'1" | SG Montverde Academy | 2023 State FL (Montverde Academy) – 6’1 Guard
Griggs is a big, athletic wing that came off the bench for a very talented Montverde Academy. She helped space the floor with her outside shooting ability and did a good job putting the ball to the floor from the wing and the baseline attacking the rim.
Olivia McGhee Olivia McGhee 6'2" | CG IMG Academy | 2023 State FL (IMG Academy) – 6’3 Wing
McGhee really stood out for her big strong build. She is a bit of a hybrid player, not really a wing and not really a forward. She mainly played on the perimeter and struggled vs pressure. She seems to still be transitioning to being a full time perimeter player and needs to continue to work on her handle and outside shooting. Her combination of height, strength, and athleticism are what makes her such an intriguing prospect and why she is headed to the ACC to play for the University of Virginia next season.
Taelyn Carey Taelyn Carey 6'1" | SF Westminster Academy | 2023 State FL (Westminster Academy) – 6’1 Wing / Forward
Carey has great length and an athletic build. On a guard heavy team, Carey gives Westminster Academy an interior presence and great length and height. She is still raw and unpolished but has a ton of potential.
Sarah Rambus Sarah Rambus 6'4" | PF IMG ACADEMY | 2023 State FL (IMG Academy) – 6’4 Forward / Center
It does not take long to see what the intrigue of what makes Rambus such a highly coveted prospect that signed with Oregon. At 6’4, she is long, athletic, with a long wingspan and a versatile skill set. She was not very effective in IMG Academy loss, mainly floating out on the perimeter and hanging out at the high post. She will need to be a consistent offensive performer for IMG Academy to make another run to an appearance in the Geico National Championships.
Letycia Vasconcelos Letycia Vasconcelos 6'7" | C Montverde Academy | 2023 State FL (Montverde Academy) – 6’7 Center
Vasconcelos length and body is impressive. At 6’7, she has a huge presence in the paint on both ends of the court. She finished well at the rim both on offensive put backs and drop passes. She has great hands for an interior post player and moved well.
