Kim Davis Powell and John McGraw got together to host the 2022 Show-N-Prove Showcase in Bradenton, FL at IMG Academy. The two-day event featured some of the state’s top players across the 2023-2030 classes. We were in attendance for both days and will break down the performance of the events top players. Here we look at the top performances on day 1 by the class of 2023 and 2024.
Class of 2023
Sophya Barreiro Sophya Barreiro 5'4" | CG Colonial | 2023 State FL – 5’3 Point Guard (Colonial HS / Team Knight)
Barreiro is one of the best point guards in the state and is fun to watch every time she steps on the court. She is a high IQ guard, who is a good decision maker, plays poised when being pressured in the full court, and keeps her team in offensive sets and in good spacing. She moves the ball well, pushes in transition consistently, and knocks down open 3s.
Milan Santos Milan Santos 5'3" | PG Colonial HS | 2023 State FL – 5’3 Point Guard (Colonial HS / Team 40)
Santos and Sophia Barreiro are one of the top duos in the state and a tough backcourt to shut down. Santos is athletic and plays well off the ball. She attacks well from the wing, getting to the rim smoothly and with grace, finishing at a high percentage at the rim. Not just a penetrator, Santos can turn games around quickly with her outside shooting, getting hot in a hurry, knocking down multiple 3s in a row!
Reina Green Reina Green 5'10" | CG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State FL – 5’9 Guard (St. Thomas Aquinas / FGB)
Green stood out in a showcase of over 100 prospects as one of the most athletic players. She is 5’9, uber athletic, strong, and has a well-rounded offensive skill set. She uses her exceptional combination of size and strength to attack the rim and finish high in the air. Her vertical is impressive, snatching rebounds out of mid air and blocking shots on the perimeter and at the rim. She remains one of the state’s top unsigned Seniors.
Sarah Rambus Sarah Rambus 6'4" | PF IMG ACADEMY | 2023 State FL – 6’3 Forward (IMG Academy)
Rambus is headed to Oregon and is one of the state’s top prospects for a reason. At 6’3, she has guard like skills and is extremely versatile. She dominated the showcase, standing out for her exceptional skill with great size and playmaking skills. She was dangerous with the ball in hands, knocking down open 3s when left open, and dropping dimes to open teammates for easy baskets. Her versatility allowed her to advance defensive rebounds into transition offense situations, pushing the ball down the court and creating 3 v 2 and 2 v 1 situations.
Class of 2024
Kamryn Corporan Kamryn Corporan 5'3" | PG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2024 State FL – 5’6 Point Guard (St. Thomas Aquinas)
Corporan had the ball on a string all weekend, balancing scoring and distributing duties equally. Corporan is a scoring point guard who does a great job creating scoring opportunities for herself by attacking off the bounce and crossing up her defenders. Left open, she will knock down the 3 but is at her best putting the ball to the floor and getting into the paint.
Jazmynne Gibson Jazmynne Gibson 6'0" | PF Colonial | 2024 State FL – 6’0 Wing / Forward (Colonial HS / Central Florida Elite)
Gibson was one of the showcases top standouts and rising stars for me personally. I had only seen her sparingly previous to the showcase. Giving the opportunity to see her more extensively, I was intrigued by her length and versatility. Gibson stood out as one of the top front court players. She ran the floor hard and moved well for her size. She can play both the wing and forward spot and plays with a high energy level and is very active.
Carmen Richardson Carmen Richardson 5'8" | CG Colonial | 2024 State FL – 5’7 Guard (Colonial HS / Central Florida Elite)
Richardson is part of a talented trio of perimeter players at Colonial alongside Milan Santos Milan Santos 5'3" | PG Colonial HS | 2023 State FL and Sophia Barreiro. Richardson is dangerous and highly effective from the wing. She has a smooth 3-point stroke, decent handle, and does a good job putting the ball to the floor when they take away her outside shot. At 5’7, she uses her length and athleticism well to shoot over the top of her defenders and finish above them at the rim. She was one of the showcases top scorers and best 3-point shooters.
Emely Rodriguez Emely Rodriguez 6'1" | SF Central Pointe Christian | 2024 State FL – 6’1 Guard (Horeb Christian / Miami Suns)
New face alert and stock riser! Rodriguez got on the radar in late summer having missed the travel ball season. Making the rounds on the showcase circuit and now putting up big numbers for Horeb Christian, Rodgriguez has quickly become one of the state’s top prospects. Her game is raw and a bit unorthodox but extremely effective. She has natural skill and scoring ability and a high ceiling!
