Continue ReadingEvery year in every state you have kids that fly under the radar or are just simply overlooked by next-level coaches evaluators and etc. The class of 2023 is no different whereas here in the state of Louisiana there are a lot of quality unsigned kids looking for a home. Although it’s early in the high school season the clock steadily ticks on seniors with no home. At the top of the class everyone seemed to find a home but what about the middle third? Here we will take a look at a few of the kids around the state that are proven and continue to prove themselves but have yet to find a home at the next level.
The 5’11 Lefty from St. Amant high is again having another good season early on as she’s leading her team in points rebounds and assist. A predominantly left-hand slasher Deniya is best in transition and using her length on defense where she’s a pest in the passing lanes and has excellent timing blocking shots. In the most recent game she finished with 32 points and 11 rebounds.
Buckets in bunches is the best way to describe this unsigned Pg prospect out of Dutchtown high. After spending her first couple of seasons at University High in Baton Rouge Miller came home to Dutchtown to close out her high school career and let’s just say she’s going out with a bang. State NAIA’s should be all over Miller who’s been on a scoring tear in her last year as a high school athlete. Miller scores in a variety of ways floaters, pull-ups jumpers however you want it she can give it. The lefty can go in her last game she finished with 34 points all while having a 4.0 GPA and 23 ACT.
All the intangibles are here and it was on full display against a loaded Sierra Canyon team. If it wasn’t known it was known the day of the Sierra Canyon vs Ty’lissa’s Parkway high ball club. While she didn’t score it a bunch she rebounded and defended very well. A long athlete with a soft touch and decent handle should start collecting phone calls here pretty soon if she hasn’t already!
Size should not matter but i think this is why the kid they call “Minni” isn’t signed. Then again that can’t be the case because she proves herself night in and night out on the court. Minni lead her Lady Patriots squad to state title last year as a junior and had a phenomenal summer. In her senior campaign, she’s doing the same thing as she leads Ellender high in scoring, steals, and assists from the lead guard position.
Yes, she’s the 6’3 beast of the north that’s unsigned but that’s not due to interest. I think we will see Emerald sign with one of the nation’s top Junior Colleges here pretty soon.
