For the most part, I got what I needed in Langham Creek’s tough victory over Cy Woods, who I actually caught a couple of weeks ago in the Katy ISD Tournament. Woods hasn’t won a game in the district yet 2 of their 3 losses have been against teams that are still undefeated, Cy Ranch as well as Langham Creek so they still have a shot at the playoffs. Here are the standouts from the game
Cy Woods
Cheyenne Landgraff-SF [2023]
Landgraff scored off the dribble a few times yet her court vision as well as playing the passing lane helped keep her squad in it. She hit huge baskets at the right time plus she went after the ball off the rim
Breanna Botello-5’10 PF/C [2023]
Botello mixed it up nicely offensively scoring on putbacks, as well as facing the basket inside the paint. She also dropped the “FLOTA” off the dribble as well as a nice turnaround jumper. She rebounded on both ends and played solid defense
Dariana Perez-CG [2023]
Perez also hit the boards hard and scored inside the paint. She not only created her shot, under pressure, but she also created contact while attacking the basket
Kareena Aragon-PG [2023]
Aragon was one of many #sizedontmatter guards on the floor. She saw the floor, scored off the dribble, and dropped the long ball. She also played the passing lane as well as good on the ball defense
Presley Oistad-PF [2023] and Chayna Thomas-SG [2025]
Oistad hit a huge bucket in the final quarter the help start a run while Thomas dropped a huge 3 in the 3rd quarter to stop one. Both filled in many blanks for their teams that don’t necessarily show up on a score or stat sheet
Langham Creek
Eryn Lloyd-5’4 SG [2023]
Lloyd has been so impressive since she showed me her progression during the club season yet her ballhandling under pressure, her battling for loose balls as well as playing the passing lane all stood out. So did her scoring on putbacks against taller players
Aniyah Sanford Aniyah Sanford 5'5" | PG Langham Creek | 2023 State TX -5’3 PG [2023]
Sanford was in her typical prototypical PG mode as she distributed and controlled the tempo. Her huge 3 in the 3rd quarter countered the one from Thomas but her “off the dribble” scoring or dishing as well as clutch free throw that got her in double digits was huge, and so was her UPS playing the passing lane
Heather Baymon Heather Baymon 5'6" | PG Langham Creek | 2024 State TX -5’6 CG [2024]
Baymon smoothly created her shot either off the dribble or the midrange at the right time helping them keep their lead. She also was one of four Lobos to score in double digits
Jade Prevost-5’9 G/F [2024]
Prevost and her younger sister also scored in double digits. Not only did she do a good job on the boards and score inside the paint, but she also scored off the dribble
Brooke Prevost-5’9 G/F [2026]
Prevost hit the boards hard on both ends, scoring on putbacks strongly while also playing solid defense. She understands how to get hers in the flow as well as using a deceptive first step to attack the basket
